ULTIMATE TURN DOWN SERVICE

While the origin of the nightly turndown ritual is challenging to pinpoint, the custom of placing chocolate on pillows is said to have begun when actor Cary Grant used chocolate to woo a woman during a stay at the The Roberts Mayfair in St. Louis.

Here are our tips for the Ultimate Turndown Service:

· A properly turned-down bed: You can't have turndown service without removing the bulky comforter or duvet and opening the corner of the linens so that when we're ready to get into bed, we can just glide in under the sheets.

· Closed drapes and/or blackout shades: Because no matter whether we're sober or tipsy, we never remember to shut the drapes on our own. Doing this is always a nice gesture.

· Soft music: What if your turndown service had its own soundtrack? Even better, ask your UHNW Principle for suggestions for their turndown music.

· Lavender Mists (or another relaxing pillow spray): Yes, we know this might sound frivolous but we're completely sold when it comes to sleep aids like lavender pillow spritzes (for stress).

· Slippers by The Bed: Nothing says "We like to pamper you" more than when you lay down a little linen next to the bed and place their slippers on top.

· Chocolates: Mints are ok, but chocolates are so much more delicious. Props if you can offer a choice of milk chocolate or dark. A flower or a snippet of lavender would also be a nice touch.

· Sleepy Tea or Water: So that we don't have to stumble to the bathroom in the dark.

· Nighttime Amenity Box: Our ultimate turndown service would include a medium-sized box on the nightstand that offers tissues, lip balm, eye-mask, earplugs.
