Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I pray this message finds you walking closely with our Lord and growing in His grace. This week's study from 1 Thessalonians 5:3 examined a sobering reality that we must understand—not to live in fear, but to be equipped to warn those we love who don't yet know Jesus.
Summary: The sermon explored the tragic character of the Day of the Lord and its impact on unbelievers who will face God's righteous judgment during the tribulation period. We examined the clear biblical distinction between believers—who will be raptured before this time of wrath—and unbelievers who will experience unprecedented deception, destruction, and eternal consequences. This study reminds us that while we are not appointed to wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9), we have a responsibility to warn others and share the gospel with urgency and clarity. Understanding these prophetic truths should motivate us to live faithfully and speak boldly about Christ while there is still time.
Takeaways:
- **The Day of the Lord will be characterized by deceit, doom, and damnation for unbelievers.** The Antichrist will come as a man of peace, deceiving the world through his intellectual genius, political prowess, and false signs. We're already seeing the conditioning of society through tolerance movements, ecumenicalism, and the rejection of absolute truth—all preparing the way for his arrival.
- **God's judgments during the tribulation are righteous, progressive, and inescapable.** The seal, trumpet, and bowl judgments detailed in Revelation demonstrate that God's wrath is holy and deserved. Remarkably, even amid these catastrophic judgments, people will refuse to repent, proving that it's not environment but the human heart that needs transformation.
- **We must warn others with urgency and clarity.** Since we know these things are coming and that no one who takes the mark of the beast can be saved, we have a solemn responsibility to share the gospel now. Location matters eternally—everyone will exist forever, but where they spend eternity depends on whether they accept Christ before they die.
Let us not grow complacent in these critical times. If you know someone who doesn't have a relationship with Jesus Christ, I encourage you to share this truth with them in love. We warn because we care, just as a parent warns a child of danger. The good news is that salvation is available right now—freely offered through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
May we be found faithful, watching, and working until He comes.
In Christ's service,
Pastor Xavier Ries
