First, sorry about the one per week newsletters. Nomination petitions are very difficult and they need to be filed by March 9. Very important work.
HELP! : The most difficult thing that any grass roots political group in Pennsylvania does each year is getting candidates on the ballot. We need to get signatures on petitions. We can't do it virtually. If we don't get the signatures we don't have candidates. It's that simple. We normally start with a meeting. Tougher in COVID times. We had some success last Saturday, so we're going to try again this weekend having Petition Signing Open Houses BOTH Saturday and Sunday.
Date: Saturday, March 6
Time: 12PM-7PM

Last chance to help your party in this critical effort!
It makes it much easier if you can come over and sign a group of petitions. You an come, sign petitions and leave. We won't have many people here at any time. We will be wearing masks and have plenty of hand sanitizer. We have one large table and two smaller tables. Any Republican in Philadelphia can help. If you can't make it, communicate with us and we will try and make an appointment to come to you or arrange a time when you can come over at a different time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
RUN FOR OFFICE YOURSELF: The election boards are up for election this year. Those are the people who are at the polls when you go there on election day. They actually get elected. It is important to make certain that Republicans are elected to some of the positions to ensure that elections are run honestly and competently. Same as with everything else, you need to get signatures on petitions. You need 10 signatures to run for Judge of Elections and five to run for Inspector of Elections. Communicate with us if you have any interest. Please give it some thought.
VACCINATED YET? Finally FEMA (the federal government) has opened a vaccination site in Philly at the Convention Center. The significance being that all other sites in the city are run by our incompetent city government which is more concerned with playing politics than making our citizens healthy. First they entrust part of the process to come college kids who have no public health experience (we wonder why?). Since then the major concern is "equity," the progressive buzzword for playing Democratic identity politics with our health. In any event, try going to
COVID-19 Vaccine Interest Form and see if it is working yet. For a short period the FEMA site was signing people up. Our fear is that the city will preempt it.
WHO CARES ABOUT OUR KIDS? Not the school board.
They unanimously rejected five new charter schools. They would have created 4,000 new openings in the new charters, which already have wait lists in the thousands. Hey, there's a reason that a third of our children attend charter schools. They have not approved ANY new charters since they took over for the School Reform Commission. This shows why electing a Republican governor next year and expanding the Republican margins in the legislature is critical to improving public education in Philadelphia by expanding parents choices.
