HELP! : The most difficult thing that any grass roots political group in Pennsylvania does each year is getting candidates on the ballot. We need to get signatures on petitions. We can't do it virtually. If we don't get the signatures we don't have candidates. It's that simple. We normally start with a meeting. Tougher in COVID times. This SATURDAY, February 19 we will be having a petition signing Open House.
Date: Saturday, February 19
Time: 11AM-7PM
Place: 4256 Regent Square, Philadelphia, PA 19104
(at 43rd Street and Regent Square)
It makes it much easier if you can come over and sign a group of petitions. You an come, help and leave. We won't have many people here at any time. We will be wearing masks and have plenty of hand sanitizer. We may do it again. Any Republican in Philadelphia can help. If you can't make it, communicate with us and we will try and make an appointment to come to you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
RUN FOR OFFICE YOURSELF: The election boards are up for election this year. Those are the people who are at the polls when you go there on election day. They actually get elected. It is important to make certain that Republicans are elected to some of the positions to ensure that elections are run honestly and competently. Same as with everything else, you need to get signatures on petitions. You need 10 signatures to run for Judge of Elections and five to run for Inspector of Elections. Communicate with us if you have any interest. Please give it some thought.
MORE CALLS TO RESTRUCTURE PHILLY'S TAXES: Check out this article by the Inquirer's Joel Naroff. Changes in the business climate in part due to COVID will reduce the revenue from Philadelphia's wage tax. He points out that nearly a decade ago he said: "The city's tax structure must be changed, and the process should begin now." He joined the stack of studies that showed that one of the reasons that Philadelphia is by many measures the poorest city in America is the tax structure in general and the wage tax specifically. What has Philadelphia done? Well last year they RAISED the wage tax. And Philadelphia keeps electing these people.
