Enjoy an afternoon of German Romantic songs presented by renowned baritone Lucio Kyuhee Cho and Steinway Artist John Milbauer. Including the brooding texts of Michelangelo set by Hugo Wolf to the folk-infused radiance of Robert Schumann’s cycle on texts by Eichendorff, a special event for all lovers of art song.

“War and Peace” Symphonic Choir, Treble Glee and guests

The University of Arizona Symphonic Choir will share a compelling program on themes of war and peace, including popular music of the Civil Rights era, excerpts from Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and powerful works by Undine Smith Moore, Katerina Gimon, Carol Barnett, and John W. Work, Jr. The personal testimony of war refugees from Syria and Afghanistan who now reside in Tucson will be integrated with the musical works on this program. Treble Glee (Menga Jiang, conductor) will join Symphonic Choir for the closing piece. The concert also will incorporate movement choreographed by Professor Brent Gibbs of the UA School of Theatre, Film and Television. Symphonic Choir is under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth Schauer, and doctoral conductors Inho Eom and Jordan Shomper also will be featured on this dynamic program. A free will offering will be taken at the conclusion of the concert to benefit Doctors Without Borders.
