EPA announced 193 grant awards for a total of over $270 million in funding for Brownfield Multipurpose, Assessment and Cleanup grant programs

Congratulations to the 30 selectees from EPA Regions 9 and 10 who received more than $51.5 million in grants! CCLR is proud to have assisted 17 of those selectees, helping to secure $29.8 million dollars, or 58% of the regions' FY26 funding. If you were selected, the work is just beginning. If you were one of the many who were not selected, request a debrief and schedule a meeting with CCLR to discuss your next steps and other funding options.

CCLR joins DTSC for a tour of Bay Area ECRG Project Sites

On June 29, CCLR assisted with a brownfield tour of three ECRG-funded projects in the San Francisco Bay Area with DTSC’s Legislative Affairs Office (LAO). Grantees educated the LAO about the work they are doing to reclaim abandoned and contaminated places for community benefit.

Oakland Unified School District shared how it is developing sustainable food systems and exploring phytoremediation (left), Central Assembly of Richmond shared its dreams to create a new walkable live/work community in El Sobrante (middle), and Pittsburg, CA shared how complex remediation is leading to redevelopment opportunities (right). Thank you to all the grantees who took time out of their busy schedules to show us around, you inspire us!

National Brownfields Coalition Federal Brownfield Funding Update

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment recently marked up H.R. 8739, or the Brownfield Revitalization for a Better Tomorrow Act, to reauthorize the U.S. EPA Brownfields Program. The bill authorizes only $169.75 million annually for FY 2027-31, substantially below the committee’s earlier draft proposal of $250 million annually and the program’s current authorization of $200 million annually.

Learn more about these changes and how you can show your support for brownfield funding on the National Brownfields Coalition website.
