The Uptown Update
Thank YOU! For your continued support. We have so much to be grateful for as we look ahead into 2021.
Impacting the Lives of Our Clients
The voices of our clients are so often unheard. While we hear countless words of gratitude from our those we serve on a daily basis, we wanted to share some heartfelt handwritten notes we received this holiday season.

Thank you, Matthew and Tony, for these beautiful words!
A huge thank you to Don and Pat Taylor. One of our incredible volunteers, Pat Taylor, or “Miss Pat” to her students, passed away on December 13th 2020. Pat and her husband, Don, have regularly contributed peanut butter sandwiches to our clients at Uptown. Miss Pat was a long-time supporter of Uptown, an avid quilter, and was actively involved in the McKinley and Logan elementary school independent readers' clubs. Don continues to support Uptown as well as Habitat for Humanity, the Burlingame historical society, and garden projects at both McKinley and Logan.

We honor the life and legacy of Miss Pat and are so grateful for the contributions of this amazing couple.
A special thank you to the Knit for Peace women at Mission Hills United Church of Christ for the 38 hand knitted caps to keep our friends experiencing homelessness warm during these cold nights. These cozy, handmade hats have made such a difference in the lives of our clients this season.
Thank you to The United Church of Christ of La Mesa for donating a truckload of in-kind donations in December! The donation collection was coordinated by Pastor Kelly Ryan in partnership with the church's Social Justice and Service ministry. Each month, the ministry assesses the needs of the clients at Uptown, gathers donations, and delivers them to our site. For the month of December, the collection was focused on items that could be used to keep clients warm as the weather gets colder.
Current Center Needs. During the cold winter months, our neighbors are most in need of sleeping bags, tents, hats, mittens, coats, and socks. We are also always in need of personal hygiene items, face masks, backpacks, and non-perishable food. Click here for details.
Uptown Gala Update: Postponed Until Fall 2021
As we continue to adjust to the impacts of COVID-19 on our work at Uptown, we have currently postponed our annual gala until Fall 2021.

Although our celebrations are currently on-hiatus, our essential work in the community continues. If you are able, donate now to support our efforts in the North Park community!
