In December we focused on moving toward the manger as we prepared our hearts for Advent and the birth of Christ. Just a few short months later our minds shift as we prepare our hearts to journey to the cross. This journey is about taking ourselves to the edge as our response to the unconditional love of God and the selflessness of Christ on the Cross.
Meditating on the events of Jesus’ final days and his resurrection can be profound. The challenge for most of us is shutting out the noise and distractions of everyday life long enough to quiet our souls and listen to the Spirit of God. Jesus journeyed in the desert for 40 days and took himself to the edge, both spiritually and mentally. What a beautiful and bold challenge we too share in this Lenten journey.
Each of us can journey towards our own edge so we can allow ourselves to be the best version of ourselves and be true to who Christ calls us to be. It is easy to get caught up in the idea that we may fall short of some external goal or that our efforts won’t make a difference. However, when we take the time to sacrifice something or add something to our daily routine we open our hearts and minds to be inspired by
