November is a time when we often reflect on the many blessings in our lives such as our faith, family, friends, education, and our basic human needs like shelter, food and clothing. We have the opportunity to thank our loving God for our abundance of blessings at our Thanksgiving liturgy next Tuesday, November 26 at 1:00 p.m. We look forward to welcoming our college-age alumnae, and any others who can join us for the celebration of our Thanksgiving liturgy and 171 years of Ursuline education!
It is also a time when we stop to reflect on ways we can help those around us in our greater community by sharing our blessings. We have a number of ways that our Ursuline community is giving back this season. Our 14th annual Whole Kids Outreach Toy Drive is underway and we encourage students to drop off a new toy in the bin located in O’Hara Hall through December 9th. These toys benefit children in rural areas of southeast Missouri who are living in impoverished conditions. Ten of our freshmen are able to serve one week at their summer camp each June and then these young women are responsible for the implementation of the toy drive the following year. We are also in our 20+ year of helping MetroVision Ministries with their Christmas Stocking Project. Our community will fill over 550 Christmas stockings to give to children in St. Louis City, County, and Jefferson County. For some these gifts will be there only ones this holiday season. We are tremendously grateful and proud of our Ursuline family for sharing their many blessings with those who have so little. May you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving and we pray your journey through Advent is a grace-filled experience.
