What a pleasure it has been to see so many of you back on campus since the start of school! While we are not completely free of covid, life on campus is pretty close to normal and spirits are high.
Our theme for this year, “Share Your Light,” is meant as a call to each and every one of us, after more than eighteen months of keeping our distance, to come together and let our gifts shine!
How might you share your light? There are many ways, big and small, some we haven’t yet thought of! Mr. Kathriner is learning about E-sports so that he can support the team. Erin Brasser (Bear Mom) and Sheri Potsos (Bear Mom and alumna) saw the need for some gardening around campus and have already added their touch to the St. Angela statue. These are just two examples of the brighter light shining at Ursuline this year, over and above the efforts of so many who go unseen.
Please keep an eye on our website, social media, and emails for ideas about how you might get involved. Or, if you see an opportunity to try something new or have a talent to offer, please share it! Our community - your Ursuline community - is made stronger with each person’s involvement.
Now that our collective foot has let up on the brakes, we’re now able to act on plans that have been in place for some time. In addition to their studies and other campus activities, our students have enthusiastically engaged in the House System and twenty-one (21) clubs, three of which are brand new. And they have ideas for more! The Bear Moms and Fathers Club have had kick-off events with strong attendance and our Alumnae Association is busy planning a “campus takeover” for Alumnae Spirit Weekend.
And lastly, though the pandemic has created challenges in pursuing campus improvement projects, we are moving forward with the E-Sports room, Innovation Space, smart TVs in all classrooms, improved outdoor wi-fi access and a new LED marquee at Monroe Avenue entrance in the weeks and months to come.
It’s an exciting time for Ursuline Academy and good things are happening. Thank you for all that you make possible.
All my best,
