As the school year came to a close this week we celebrated all that our students have accomplished. We hosted the Lower School and Middle School Moving Up Ceremonies. Today we hosted our senior Commencement Ceremony for the 124th graduating class of Ursuline Academy. We are incredibly proud of each and every student for their unique achievements in the classroom and beyond. We wish everyone a wonderful summer!

Messages from our Valedictorian & Salutatorians
(
L-R: Olivia Barnett, Salutatorian attending Wake Forest University / Meggie Goodridge, Valedictorian attending Yale University / Yara Awad, Salutatorian attending University of Delaware's Honors Program)
Following the traditional cap and gown class photo they did the Senior Walk through the Lower School while the children sang "Insieme" and applauded their bright futures.
At graduation we heard heartfelt messages and well wishes to the graduating class from our Valedictorian and Salutatorian. These messages resonated with the Class of 2018 as they prepare their journey that lies ahead knowing each of them will forever hold a part of Ursuline in their heart.
Valedictorian, Meggie Goodridge shared this message with her fellow classmates." I can't pretend that I know enough to share any ounce of advice for the future, any sliver of wisdom, because, then again, everything I know about life, I learned from my sisters. But I will take this moment to use my voice and speak directly to them: You are all my favorite outstanding women. It has been an honor to know you and to love you. I, for one, am incredibly sad to leave this place that we've called home, but even more thrilled to go out into a world where, whether you become politicians, humanitarians, engineers, artists, or trailblazers, young girls and boys will have you to write speeches about. Thank you for your voices...voices that will reverberate in my heart and through these halls. You have so much to be proud of. Congratulations!"
Salutatorians, Yara Awad and Olivia Barnett, talked about numbers and the emphasis they play on almost everything in life. While numbers are important they reminded us that "
the impact we have had on each other is what counts the most." Throughout all of our student speeches this weekend, we heard the impact of the Ursuline sisterhood and how it has grown stronger and stronger over their last 4 years. I leave you with the powerful closing from Olivia Barnett's Salutatorian speech, "Class of 2018- when you are in bed tonight, whether or not you are tossing and turning over the phenomenon of numbers- when you are alone with your thoughts... Don't count the sheep. Count the moments we've shared that you will never forget...Visualize how lucky we are to have experienced the impact of this sisterhood. And lastly, for your bright futures, remember not to count the days but to make the days count."
Congratulations to the Class of 2018!
