St. John’s, Dover launches Harm Reduction Station to serve the community
St. John’s, Dover has partnered with Prevention is Key New Jersey to launch a 24/7 Harm Reduction Station in the church parking lot, directly in front of the parish hall. Prayer vigil at Delaney Hall
SUN, JUL 26 | 3 PM
On the fourth Sunday of each month, members of our diocese gather for a brief prayer vigil outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility.
Our next vigil is this Sunday. We will meet at 3 PM by the hospitality tent outside Delaney Hall. The Rev. Dr. Miguel Hernandez will lead the vigil and is the primary contact for questions.
If you are unable to join us in person, we will do our best to livestream the vigil on the diocesan Facebook page. You are also invited to pray at 3 PM from wherever you are, in solidarity with those gathered.

Experience the rich spiritual heritage of the sacred isle of Iona on a pilgrimage with Bishop Hughes. Revered as the birthplace of Scottish Christianity, Iona has welcomed pilgrims for more than 1,400 years, ever since St. Columba established a monastery there.
Pilgrims will have opportunities to explore the island, visit historic Iona Abbey, and, if they wish, participate in daily worship with the Iona Community. This is a unique opportunity for prayer, reflection, and fellowship in one of Christianity's most treasured holy places.

152nd Annual Diocesan Convention
FRI, NOV 13 - SAT, NOV 14 The Hilton Parsippany
This year’s Diocesan Convention returns to its familiar two-day format, with an expanded array of programming and events. Highlights include the return of workshops on topics related to the Convention theme, our Friday evening dinner featuring a keynote speaker, the Saturday morning diocesan worship service open to all, and the Convention Marketplace showcasing a wide range of vendors.
As the diocesan staff continues to adapt to recent turnover, we ask all congregations and attendees to pay close attention to Convention communications and deadlines to help us prepare for a successful event. This year, it will be especially important to adhere to registration and payment deadlines.

CFO announces Diocese of Newark budget process for 2027
Individuals or organizations are offered the opportunity to request that programs and funding not included in the 2026 budget be considered by Council for inclusion in the proposed 2027 budget. Such requests are due by Monday, August 3, 2026. Organizations included in the 2026 budget will also be required to submit their 2027 request for continued funding by that same date.

Alleluia Fund grant applications accepted starting August 15
Grant applications for the Alleluia Fund for Outreach Fund will be accepted starting August 15. Congregations and eligible ministry partners are invited to apply for grants of up to $15,000 to support outreach ministries that address needs in their communities and beyond. Applications will be accepted through September 15 at noon. Learn more and apply.

Diocesan offices - summer closings
Summer Fridays: The diocesan offices will close at 1 PM on Fridays through Friday, August 28.
Staff vacation week: The diocesan offices will be closed next week, July 27-31, when all diocesan staff will use vacation days to take a mid-summer break.

The Diocese of Newark is a member of Province II of The Episcopal Church, along with the dioceses of New Jersey, Albany, Central New York, Long Island, New York, Rochester, Western New York, Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the European Convocation.
The Province II Synod is slated for Thursday, April 15, 2027 at 8 AM Eastern via Zoom. To accomplish all the business that is included in presenting the Province II Synod, volunteers are needed. Find out more.
