Online celebration of the Feast of Absalom Jones
SUN, FEB 13, 3 PM
The Union of Black Episcopalians Diocese of Newark Chapter will celebrate the life and ministry of the Rev. Absalom Jones, the first person of African descent ordained a deacon and priest in the Episcopal Church, in an online service.

Bishop Hughes will be the celebrant. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Melvin Wilson of St. Matthew AME Church, Orange, NJ. Find out more.

It's time to get ready for the 25th Annual Hegg Awards!

You are invited to join Bishop Hughes and Senior Ministries of the Diocese of Newark for the 25th annual David P. Hegg II Lifetime Achievement Awards.

The Hegg Awards are given annually to members of our diocese who are:

  • Age 60+.
  • A long-standing, active member of your congregation.
  • Made or makes contributions to the congregation and/or the diocese.

The service will be pre-recorded and broadcast on the diocesan YouTube channel, with the honorees presented in a photo slideshow. Find out more.

We are happy to announce the 2022 schedule for Confirmations.

These services are limited to a maximum of 25 candidates each and each Candidate is limited to a maximum of 6 guests, not including their clergy or sponsors/presenters. All others are invited to watch the live streams of the services from home. Find out more.
