Points by Paul

Tampa Bay Lightning player Nick Paul and the Lightning Foundation stopped by in June to deliver a generous donation from Points by Paul. For every point that Nick scored throughout this past hockey season, he donated $150 to support the Crisis Center's mental health services. Each dollar was matched by the Lightning Foundation, totaling in a donation of $14,400.

Thank you to Nick Paul and the Lightning Foundation for your support and work to raise awareness of mental health resources throughout our community!

Intervention Specialists Staffed in

Tampa Police Department Dispatch

Starting on July 1st, Crisis Center Intervention Specialists were staffed within the Tampa Police Department's Dispatch Center. By having these employees work alongside dispatch, the hope is that calls with an emotional emergency can be de-escalated by Crisis Center staff instead of immediately sending a police officer to provide a wellness check. These Intervention Specialists are extensively trained to provide support and will be able to connect callers to resources throughout the community that can provide them ongoing help.

A similar program has been in place in the Pasco County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center, and we are very excited to bring this trauma-informed approach to Tampa.
