The Vanner, 2022
This will be the 10th annual edition of The Vanner! The theme for 2022 is The Gypsy Vanner, a Horse for Everyone! In this edition we will explore the myriad of people who are involved with and love the Gypsy Vanner breed. From youngsters just learning to ride, to more seasoned riders wanting an athletic performance horse for competition, or a therapy program looking for a steady, unflappable horse, the Gypsy Vanner breed can be an ideal horse for EVERYONE!

The publication schedule is changing for 2022 with the goal of printing and distribution by late May/early June.

This is the first call for submissions...contact the magazine coordinator with your article or content ideas to be included in this edition. All contributors are welcomed. The official Call for Submissions document with content guidelines is available on the GVHS website.

Advertising rates have been slightly increased over 2021 rates. Rates & guidelines are available on the GVHS website. Book your ad today! Prime advertising space does fill up quickly. <although any space in this magazine is prime!>
GVHS Year End Reminders
GVHS members have until Dec 31, 2021 to claim their 2020 show credits. On Jan 1 the balance will be moved to the GVHS youth fund.

GVHS Vanner Advantage awards are to recognize those who get their Gypsy Vanner out to events to present the breed to the public including open shows, expositions; American Driving Society events; other pleasure driving events such as Driving Club drives; organized trail rides; clinics, parades. Forms for 2021 events with your horse are due by January 15, 2022. More information regarding the program and the submission form can be accessed on the GVHS website (http://vanners.org/vanner-advantage/ ). 

The GVHS High Point awards are determined based upon placings at GVHS approved shows throughout the year.  Separate YOUTH and AMATEUR awards are included.  To qualify for these awards, Youth must be GVHS Youth Members in good standing and AMATEURS must fill out the Declaration of Amateur Status form. To be included in these awards for 2022, renew your GVHS membership today (http://vanners.org/become-member/ ) and amateurs must also submit their Amateur Declaration form.  (http://vanners.org/pdf_post/declaration-of-amateur-status/  )

Points & standings for High Point Awards for GVHS Horses, Amateur and Youth for 2021 are posted to the GVHS Points-Qualifying Shows page (http://vanners.org/shows/ ). Contact the GVHS office if you note any issues. On December 31 the points will become final.
The Gypsy Vanner Horse Society's 25th Anniversary Gala !!!  
Thank you to all members and friends of the GVHS for joining the celebration!

Attendees experienced a fantastic time with friends and educators of this wonderful breed. The breed versatility demonstration was a treat for all in attendance. Dennis Thompson, GVHS Co-founder was driven into the ring by Kandee Bassett and her beautiful pair of driving Vanners. Several members volunteered their time to demonstrate the versatility of the Gypsy Vanner breed. The special treat for all of us was seeing Chauvani, one of the first 16 horses to be imported into the USA. Thank you so much Bill and Wendy Ricci, and Linda Pepple for sharing her with us. Dennis brought Stallion BB King, and we got to see him in the arena for the first time in his life...thank you Dennis and Erin for sharing him.

The 25th Anniversary Gala was held Saturday evening to celebrate the GVHS and the Gypsy Vanner breed and to recognize and thank many who have been instrumental in the success of the GVHS. Dennis Thompson was presented with an amazing sculpture done by June Brown. Barb Snyder was presented with a Sterling Silver bracelet made by June Brown, and Wayne Hipsley was presented with a Crystal Gypsy Vanner by artist June Brown.

A GVHS Time Capsule was introduced at the event and attendees were invited to add some GVHS memorabilia to it. The GVHS invites members to send in their contributions to the TIME CAPSULE. The time capsule will remain open until Dec 31, 2021 and then sealed for the next 25 YEARS.  Anyone who would like to send something to put in it send the GVHS PO Box 219 Morriston, FL 32668


GVHS Board of Directors Elections
All eligible members have been sent email notices containing their Simply Voting unique USERNAME, PASSWORD and a link to the 2021 GVHS Board of Directors online election ballot. The ballot will be accessible for voting from 8:00 am EST on November 1, 2021 through to 4:00pm EST on December 15, 2021.  Review the Nominee information, available on the GVHS website prior to voting.

If you have not received the email with your voting information, first look to be sure you have a current General or Lifetime membership and own a horse that is registered in your name with the GVHS which qualifies you as a voting member. Check the latest MEMBERS list online at www.vanners.org to ensure that the GVHS has your latest email address.  If not, please update by contacting the GVHS office, 888-520-9777 or gvhs@vanners.org.
