GVHS Board of Directors Election

Ballots closed on December 14, 2022 and the certified results were issued by Simply Voting. This year the GVHS had the highest ever turn out of eligible voters participating in the election with 42.8% voting! Thank you for your interest. The certified results can be viewed on the BOD Election page of the GVHS website <here>.

Thank you to both nominees, Gale Rempel and Samantha Crook, for your interest in this Board of Directors Position.

The successful candidate for the term from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2025 is

Gale Rempel.

2023 GVHS Officers

GVHS Executive Officers are elected annually by the Board of Directors. Several candidates expressed interest for the positions. Following receipt and approval of the Board elections, the 2023 Board voted via Simply Voting.

The 2023 Officers are:

President: Gale Rempel

Vice President: Samantha VanSickle

Secretary/ Treasurer: Barbara Snyder

Sadly, long time GVHS member Terri Martel passed away on November 23rd. Terri was a GVHS member since 2008 and served as an elected Director on the Board for 6 years. She also served on committees and as the GVHS Treasurer for 8 years. Terri was the proud owner of three Gypsy Vanner horses. A terrible loss; we send condolences to her husband, Paul, and the rest of her family.

IMPORTANT GVHS Year End Reminders

GVHS MEMBERSHIP: GVHS Awards programs require GVHS Membership for the horse owner of record. Participating Youth and Amateur exhibitors must hold GVHS Membership. Amateur declarations must also be completed. Points for Breed Shows are not awarded retroactively so renew TODAY to maximize your 2023 points. Also note that to be eligible to vote in Board of Directors election and any other matters taken to a member vote, you must be a GENERAL or LIFETIME member in good standing and be the owner of record of a GVHS registered horse..

SHOW POINTS REVIEW: Exhibitors have until Dec 31, 2022 to review and resolve any discrepancies in the show points recorded and posted by GVHS for 2022. Shows (vanners.org)

AWARDS CREDITS: GVHS members have until Dec 31, 2022 to claim their 2021 awards credits. On Jan 1 the balance will be moved to the GVHS youth fund.

The Vanner 2023

This year’s theme is The Gypsy Vanner: Family, Fun and Friendship. Where there is a Gypsy Vanner horse involved, you can be sure that family, friends, and Vanners, are all having FUN! In this edition we will feature stories of how Gypsy Vanner horses bring people together for special moments with family and cementing friendships, both old and new.

As with past years, the achievements of GVHS award winning members and horses will be featured in The Vanner.
