The Vanner, 2022
This will be the 10th annual edition of The Vanner! The theme for 2022 is The Gypsy Vanner, a Horse for Everyone! In this edition we will explore the myriad of people who are involved with and love the Gypsy Vanner breed. From youngsters just learning to ride, to more seasoned riders wanting an athletic performance horse for competition, or a therapy program looking for a steady, unflappable horse, the Gypsy Vanner breed can be an ideal horse for EVERYONE!

The publication schedule is changing for 2022 with the goal of printing and distribution by late May/early June.

This is the first call for submissions...contact the magazine coordinator with your article or content ideas to be included in this edition. All contributors are welcomed. The official Call for Submissions document with content guidelines is available on the GVHS website.

Advertising rates have been slightly increased over 2021 rates. Rates & guidelines are available on the GVHS website. Book your ad today! Prime advertising space does fill up quickly. <although any space in this magazine is prime!>
GVHS EVALUATIONS
The Gypsy Vanner Horse Evaluation Program has been developed as an educational tool for the horse breeder, to promote thoughtful breeding of Gypsy Vanner Horses of the type as detailed in the breed standard, and for the public to educate them about the breed.  

This system should be viewed as an important tool to help preserve the wonderful characteristics of the Gypsy Vanner Horse. The conformation-movement evaluation is also an integral part of the GVHS Registration process.  Horses lacking DNA verification of both sire and dam require a certain minimum conformation-movement evaluation score to move from the GVHS Pre-Studbook into the Regular Studbook.

GVHS EVALUATIONS ARE NOW PLANNED AS FOLLOWS:

January 7, 2022 – Jacksonville Equestrian Center, Jacksonville, FL followed by the Florida Feathered Horse Classic, Jan 8-9.

The exhibition will feature over 15 Gypsy Vanner horses performing in a variety of disciplines. Stall areas will be accessible to allow close up viewing of participating horses and Q & A with their owners and riders/handlers.

GVHS Board of Directors Elections

In order to facilitate voting in the 2021 GVHS Board of Directors election, the GVHS has once again implemented a secure and confidential solution for online voting through the online election platform, www.SimplyVoting.com.  

Simply Voting is a web-based online voting system that helps organizations to run elections easily and securely. Visit the Simply Voting website for more information about how Simply Voting ensures a tamper proof, secure and reliable method for GVHS members to vote.

HOW DOES IT WORK? Once the election is open for voting, all eligible members will receive an email notice containing their Simply Voting unique USERNAME, PASSWORD and a link to the 2021 GVHS Board of Directors online election ballot. The ballot will be accessible for voting from 8:00 am EST on November 1, 2021 through to4:00pm EST on December 15, 2021. Email blast reminders will be sent periodically throughout this time period to members who have not yet voted.

Note that all emails to members will originate from the email: vote@simplyvoting.com 

It is possible that some servers may block this email from being delivered. For most users, simply adding vote@simplyvoting.com to their contacts should be sufficient to avoid this.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
 If you do not receive the email with your voting information by November 1,2021, first look to be sure you have a current General or Lifetime membership and own a horse that is registered in your name with the GVHS which qualifies you as a voting member.

Check the latest MEMBERS list online at www.vanners.org to ensure that the GVHS has your latest email address.  If not, please update by contacting the GVHS office, 888-520-9777 or gvhs@vanners.org.

Review the Nominee information, available on the GVHS website prior to voting. During the election, if you have verified the above information and still do not receive the email notices from Simply Voting, contact the GVHS office for assistance.
