As I make my way back to Texas, I wanted to take a moment to update you on my work in Congress and TX-31.

ON THE DOCKET:

THE BRIEF:

• In August, there were 203,597 illegal immigrant encounters at our southern border. There have now been 18 straight months of over 150,000 illegal border crossings.
• So far in 2022, homicide rates across the country have increased roughly 50% compared to this time in 2019.
• One in three Americans have reported trouble affording gas in Biden’s energy crisis.

AMERICA’S VETDOGS 

I spent Tuesday morning the best way I know how – with America’s VetDogs, talking about the importance of ensuring our veterans and first responders have the resources they need to thrive. This service dog program provides enhanced mobility and renewed independence to our nation’s heroes. As the representative for the largest veteran population in Texas, I am thankful for the outstanding work that America’s VetDogs is doing, and I look forward to continuing to work with them.

MEETING WITH KILLEEN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

I sat down with district leaders from Killeen Independent School District to discuss how we can continue to work together to support military students and their families. Military families have a tough job and continually sacrifice along with their service member for our nation's freedoms. I am committed to providing them the support and resources necessary to thrive. I appreciate all that KISD does for the young people of Killeen and Fort Hood!

CONSTITUENT SERVICES UPDATE

In the month of August, my office helped 373 constituents with issues involving a federal agency and responded to 3,439 constituent comments.
