Via Dedicates the Kristi Hanawalt Life Skills Center

On May 22, Via dedicated our new service for young adults with disabilities the Kristi Hanawalt Life Skills Center in Allentown.

The Center is named for Kristi Hanawalt, a long-time recipient of Via's services. We were honored to be joined by Kristi's parents, Bob and Gloria, and her brothers, Rob and Scott, as well as many friends.

Kristi's brothers spoke fondly of their older sister. Rob shared that he would often pick up Kristi from her job at Wegman's bagel department and would arrive early to watch her work, admiring her commitment to her job.

"I know that her doing her best was because of her coaches at Via and all the support that was provided to her," Rob said.

Thriving Through Recreation

Now that spring has arrived, Via participants appreciate the chance to do outdoor activities and socialize with their peers in fun settings.

Recently, Bobby enjoyed watching a baseball game with Sarah and playing a round of miniature golf with Valerie. All three work during the day and enjoy spending their weekends doing fun activities with friends.

Via Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) help Bobby, Sarah, and Valerie plan activities like these. If you are looking for a rewarding career as a DSP helping people have fun while meeting their individual goals, join our team! Visit our website for more information.

Participants and Direct Support Professionals Enjoy Springtime Activities

Spring weather brings more opportunities for hosting activities outdoors for Via participants and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).

Earlier this month, Via DSPs organized a fun day for our Community Connection participants to spend time together. Everyone enjoyed the time outside playing games, winning prizes, and planting seeds.
