Celebrating Our Direct Support Professionals

National Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week, Sept. 12-18, was celebrated across the country to showcase the fantastic and often unsung work that DSPs do each day to help people with disabilities reach their full potential. Via joined agencies across the country to honor our DSPs.

This year Via's recognition week theme was "Our DSPs Are Celebrities." Every DSP received an Amazon gift card and a Via tumbler.  They also participated in a raffle with great prizes donated by Truist, Historic Hotel Bethlehem, Wind Creek Bethlehem, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Painting With A Twist, Wawa, Air Products, Barry Isett & Associations, Easton Main Street Initiative, Via's Leadership Team, and Via Board Members.

Via participants and families sent us testimonials highlighting why our DSPs are celebrities. Some of these are below. To see more, visit our Facebook page

Your financial support helps our DSPs ensure our participants live their best lives.  Thank you!

And the Spruce Award Goes To...

Some of our Direct Support Professionals were honored with celebrity "Spruce Awards" this year for their dedication and commitment to our participants.

Employee Milestone Anniversaries Recognized

In September, Via also honored all employees for their commitment to those we serve and recognized milestone anniversaries. See our social media pages to learn who was recognized for their tenure.

Lisa Walkiewicz was recognized for her 15-year tenure. Starting as Director of Communications, she was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and then Executive Director. Lisa now leads the agency as President and CEO. Jerry Somers, Via Board Chair, highlighted Lisa's career in the post below.

October Is National Disability Employment Awareness Month

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) to celebrate the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. In recognition of the important role people with disabilities play in a diverse and inclusive American workforce, this year's theme is  “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation."

Throughout October, Via will be sharing success stories on our social media about the people we serve who have reached their employment goals.
