Celebrating Gender Equity Month
|

Dear Colleagues,
I am excited to invite you to our inaugural Gender Equity Month events this March. Our month-long focus on gender equity for and among faculty will begin with a keynote presentation on March 2 by Dr. Joya Misra (University of Massachusetts-Amherst) on “Creating Equitable Universities.” Dr. Misra is a leading expert on faculty service and workload equity. We will also hold a discussion of gender pay equity on March 30. Additional details and registration information for Gender Equity Month events are provided in this newsletter.
We have created a new Faculty Fellow position in the Office of the Provost to focus on mentoring and faculty development. This opportunity is open to tenured Danforth Campus faculty. More details are provided below.

Faculty Fellow Opening
The Office of the Provost is seeking a Faculty Fellow to assist the vice provost for faculty affairs and diversity with working on several projects related to the design and development of programs to support faculty mentoring. This assignment will begin as early as April 1, 2022, and will end in June 2024. The full announcement is available here.

These sessions provide dedicated writing time, allowing faculty to come together to talk through their work, receive support and make progress on academic writing projects. This event is WashU's dedicated time for its community to pause, convene, and engage across roles and campus locations - helping build meaningful connections as faculty, students, and staff reflect upon our shared values and lived experiences. This year’s theme “What Does It All Mean? Making Sense and Meaning In a Period of Incredible Change” will specifically address the university’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion during the pandemic.

Application Open for the Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program: The Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program brings to WashU individuals from underrepresented backgrounds who have distinguished themselves as leaders and innovators in the academy, in business or in fields of endeavor.
