Lent at St. John's

Lent 2026 exploring prayer (2550 x 1200 px).jpg

5:30 pm Dinner | 6:00 pm Program

“Prayer is responding to God, by thought and by deeds, with or without words” (BCP, p. 856)

Prayer takes many forms. Some are quiet and contemplative; others are active, embodied, and creative. This Lent, join us on Wednesday evenings as we explore a variety of ways to pray, ways that invite stillness and movement, reflection and action, as we seek to deepen our prayer lives and our relationship with God.

Wednesday, March 25

Enter a Gospel story through Ignatian prayer with Fr. Chase and write intercessory prayer cards, allowing prayer to move outward in care for others.

Menu for Wednesday: dinner salads. For dinner, a $5 per plate donation is requested; $20 max per family.

To help out the Easter Bunny, we are collecting bags of snack-sized, individually wrapped candy. Donations can be placed in the marked bins in the Narthex and Office Hallway.

Cookies and Lemonade

COOKIES AND LEMONDADE .jpg

Sunday mornings following the 10:30 am service, join us on the patio by the church's red doors for Cookies and Lemonade: a time to visit, play, and refresh after Sunday morning formation and worship.

Weekly hosting duties are rotated so everyone can enjoy the fellowship. The host provides 3 dozen cookies (homemade or store-bought) and helps Paul, our sexton, set up and tear down. Go the sign up to claim your Sunday. This Sunday is open!

HERO ACADEMY VBS: SERVING LIKE THE SAINTS

Monday, June 22-Friday, June 26

9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Inspired by the lives of saints like Francis and Martin of Tours and Therese and Catherine, St. John’s Hero Academy VBS invites children to consider how following Jesus’ call to love and serve others is the most heroic thing of all. Children will create projects in the Hero Maker Design Studio, play high-energy games in the Gamer’s Gauntlet, hear stories of the faithful in the Hero Archives, and relax with a treat or two and the Holy Hero Cafe? All the while, they will discover that we can indeed serve like the saints!

This year, we are partnering with the 3rd Street Boys and Girls Club once more and hope to show God’s love and care to even more children than last year! But this means that WE NEED YOUR HELP! IF you would like to volunteer to help with VBS, read the volunteer descriptions HERE. Then sign up next to your desired work area with your name and availability HERE.
