The Annual Parish Meeting and Vestry Election begins in the church at the end of the Service of the Holy  Eucharist, then continues in the Parish Hall during lunch. Please note, 10:00 am will be the only service on the 26th.

The meeting agenda includes:

  • Vestry Election
  • Presentation of 2025 budget
  • Reports from the Rector, Wardens and other ministry leaders

Thank you to all those who nominated others and to the Vestry Nominating Committee to completing our outstanding slate of Vestry nominees for 2025:

  • Bynum Kirby
  • Ed Land
  • Ann Stewart
  • Suzanne Thompson
  • Victoria Tumbleson

According to the Canons of the Diocese of Alabama: “Those entitled to vote shall be confirmed adult communicants in good standing as defined in the General Canons who are canonically resident in the Parish and physically present at the meeting and who are known to the Rector and Treasurer as regular contributors to the support of the Parish program, and those present shall constitute a quorum.”

Please bring a dish to share for lunch. There is no Sunday School or Breakfast this week; childcare will be available. Please make plans to attend this important event in the life of our parish!

February 9th will be filled with tackles and touchdowns as the 59th Super Bowl takes place. But there’s something else you can tackle in the meantime: HUNGER! Did you know that 16.4% of Morgan County residents inexperience food insecurity?

That’s why – with the youth’s help – we’re collecting cans of soup for the CCC, NCC, and St. John’s own backpack ministry! Between now and Super Bowl Sunday (February 9) bring in cans of soup to help stock pantries in our community!

Cans can be left in the bins near the office. Thank you!

Common Ground Community Garden

In praise of trees -- and leaf litter!

Not only do the fallen leaves help deter flooding, the roots of trees help stabilize the soil, especially helpful on slopes to minimize washes. This is the time of year to plant new trees, according to Alabama Cooperative Extension Service. Don't forget to consider your space and a tree's growth before planting.
