Beans and Rice Update

Each month, our Beans & Rice Ministry brings our church family together to help neighbors facing food insecurity. While distribution happens on the fourth Thursday, volunteers work behind the scenes all month to shop, check inventory, pack beans and rice, and prepare food bags.

In July, thanks to the generosity of many, we distributed 120 bags to 73 families, helping feed approximately 300 people, including children and veterans. In addition to volunteer purchases, the ministry costs about $600 each month to provide food and supplies.

We wish this ministry weren't needed, but we are grateful for everyone who helps make it possible.

Assisting with Children's Chapel

Would you be willing to sign up to occasionally help assist in the Children's Chapel on Sunday mornings? This is a brief period mid-service when some of the youngest at St. John's step out to discuss the day's liturgy in kid-friendly language, along with a brief activity.

Click below for the Sunday sign-up document, which includes contact information for those already serving in case you have questions. Thank you for supporting the young families of St. John's!

Back to School Means Back to the Backpack Ministry!

To alleviate food scarcity for children who experience food insecurity over the weekend, St. John's backpack ministry provides a weekly, take-home bag of groceries for children at area schools.

Each week, we need 160 breakfasts, 320 main courses, 320 snacks, 80 cans of vegetables, and 80 cups/containers/pouches of fruit. That's a lot. But because of you, we can purchase, pack, and deliver food to feed 80 children each week who might not have enough to eat over the weekend.

Find out how you can support the Backpack Ministry by tapping the button below! Help is especially needed with packing at the church and delivery to Banks-Caddell School.
