Protest to Progress: 60 Years of CSU and Civil Rights Exhibit
February 1 - February 29
Berkman Hall - 1st Floor Atrium
Protest to Progress is an exhibit that traces the history of Cleveland State University from 1964 to 2024 as a diverse, student-focused, urban research university providing accessible and exceptional education. CSU’s beginnings are set against the backdrop of the civil rights movement nationally and locally.
The first influx of Black students had a profound influence. That influence continues throughout CSU’s history and today creating a campus that is diverse, inclusive and welcoming. Protest to Progress reflects the tenor of tragedy and triumph through the volatile 1960s, to today.
The exhibit tells the 60-year story of CSU along with the 60-year story of the Civil Rights Movement in the City of Cleveland and on our campus. Because of these two 60th anniversaries in our city and on our campus, We Are Cleveland State University – a learning institution for everyone!
