THE VIKING VOICE

September 15, 2022

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

One of the best parts of working in a Catholic school is the opportunity to see our Catholic values at work! Yesterday at Mass, our students were reminded of the impact St. Veronica has made on our Catholic community. She is best known for wiping the sweat from Jesus’ brow as he carried his cross to Calvary. However, her miracle is with us, even today. When St. Veronica wiped Jesus' brow, an image of Jesus’ face was imprinted on the cloth. The Veil of Veronica then traveled to Rome and was presented to the Roman Emperor Tiberius. This image is now known as the Holy Face of Jesus and is housed at St. Peter’s Cathedral in the Vatican. As Catholics, we believe the veil possesses miraculous gifts, to quench thirst, cure blindness and raise people from the dead.

During Wednesday’s Mass, the students in grades 1-8 and staff of St. Veronica School were presented with a Holy Face of Jesus medal. It contains the same image that is on the Veil of Veronica, and offers us a chance to connect to the patron saint of our school. Please join me in praying for the students and staff of our school, as they wear this image and remember that Jesus is with them always. May this gift from St. Veronica, be forever held in our hearts.

God bless,

Stephanie

HIGH SCHOOL SHADOWING POLICY FOR 8TH GRADERS

Choosing a high school is a very important decision. Shadow days are afforded to our 8th graders to help them make the most educated decision possible. Students are encouraged to schedule shadow days during days when St. Veronica School is not in session. In the event that a school day must be used for shadowing, the following policy will be utilized:

  1. 8th graders will be permitted to have 3 excused absences due to shadow days.
  2. Parents should email or call the middle school teachers and the school office prior to missing school for shadow experiences.
  3. Students are responsible for any and all work missed due to shadow days.
