August 15, 2024

Dear Viking Families,

As the summer comes to a close, we are filled with excitement to welcome you back for another school year! In just five days, our halls will once again be filled with the energy, laughter, and curiosity of our students. We hope you had a restful and rejuvenating summer break, and are as eager as we are to start this new school year together.

Our dedicated teachers have been hard at work throughout the summer, preparing their classrooms, planning engaging lessons, and finding new ways to inspire and challenge our students. They are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their new classes and are committed to making this year a memorable and successful one for each and every student.

As we prepare to kick off this school year, I wanted to share an important update to our school’s discipline policy for students in grades 5-8 that will be implemented during the year ahead. In our ongoing efforts to enhance student support and accountability, we will be introducing a more quantitative tracking system for monitoring and managing student behavior.

To better understand and address behavioral patterns, we will be implementing a system that quantitatively tracks student behaviors. This new approach will record specific behaviors using a standardized point system with values of 1, 5, or 10 points. The point system will be tracked through our OptionC Discipline Module and parents will be notified of student behaviors through email. A preview of the updated point values and behaviors can be found here. More information regarding the updated discipline policy can be found in the school handbook.

Additionally, I understand that there have been some delays with uniform orders, and appreciate your patience and understanding. Both Schoolbelles and U-Sports have encountered supply chain issues that have resulted in backorders with some of our uniform items. I have reached out to them directly and requested that any completed items are sent to our families as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that Schoolbelles normally has a 6-week turnaround time and U-Sports currently has a 4-6 week order timeline. We are working with our vendors and keeping the lines of communication open until all orders have been fulfilled.

In the meantime, we have a few reminders for families. Students in K-8 may wear any light blue or navy polo; the school logo is NOT required. Girls awaiting skirts and jumpers also have the option to wear shorts or pants of the appropriate grade-level color. Students in grades 5-8 will not be required to change for Physical Education classes until the end of September.

We look forward to seeing you all very soon, and to a school year filled with growth, learning, and community.

God bless,

Stephanie Woodall, Principal

Back to School Checklist

Be sure to complete all items on the Back to School Checklist prior to the start of school. Contact the school office at (513) 528-0442 with any questions or concerns.

Updated Medication Forms

A new Physician Request for Administration of Medication form must be completed each new school year for all prescription medications. Additionally, you are no longer required to get a physician's signature for non-prescription medications. Complete the Parent/Guardian Request for Administration of Medication. Please note, the parent must still provide the over-the-counter medication.

Note from Cafeteria Manager, Carly Powell

Please bear with us as we make the transition from St. Albert Nutrition Services back to in-house lunch at St. Veronica. Any money that was in your students' PaySchools lunch account at the end of last year was transferred back to St. Veronica and will be in your students' new account, pending the completion of our new system. Parents/guardians will be notified once the transition is complete and funds can be added to lunch accounts. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Carly at cpowell@stveronica.org.

Uniform Samples Available at Open House

Uniform samples in most sizes (polos, gym shorts, pullovers, spirit wear t-shirts) will be available to try on for help with sizing at the Back to School Open on August 19.
