A Year in Review

2022 - 2023

June 2023

Dear VCP Member,

Thank you for your continued support of The Village Club & Preserve!

Your Financial Support

As we approach the fourth anniversary of our opening, we are grateful for your steadfast support. We hope we’ve been able to add value to your household and that your life has been enriched in some way by our presence--either just by casual use of our aquatics area, through improvement of your health by using our pools or grounds for fitness, through attendance at our social events and the development of new friendships, or just satisfaction in knowing that your financial support plays a role in sustaining a vibrant community hub “just down the road.”

Since May 2022, we’ve added 45 new member households and continue to thrive. We are grateful for our dedicated volunteers whose service to our organization allows us to keep our costs low. Please give a wave, smile, and word of thanks to our volunteer greeter on duty next time you visit the VCP! Ready to jump in and serve? Our volunteer application can be found at our website under the “Volunteers” tab.

A Year in Review

In the past year, we’ve taken on a number of projects that have enhanced the overall experience of our members, keeping our mission at the forefront of all we do–to impact the community for good by providing a place to gather, enrich, and serve.

In June 2022, we celebrated the grand opening of Trooper Park–a top-knotch playground on the north grounds that had been years in the making. Donations from 48 individuals (giving from $250 - $10,000)  allowed us to move the project forward. Their names are commemorated on our Trooper Park sign on the property–check it out next time you visit!

Thanks to a directed gift from the Hale Family, we also celebrated a grand RE-opening of the Hale Spa, after completely refurbishing the hot tub from the inside out. Around the grounds–we recently added a new iPad check-in kiosk, installed irrigation, beds and new landscaping around the pavilion and clubhouse (greeting visitors with GREEN grass and bright flowers), and tackled much-needed mature oak trimming.

As we look to the future, our biggest area of anticipated expense is around our pools and pool systems. We plan to continue saving for major equipment repair/replacement expenses in that area. We will also be refinishing our pickleball courts this year, which have been become patched and worn, to keep them in top shape. Our goal is to maintain the features we have to a high standard and carefully consider future improvements and additons through above-and-beyond fundraising.

Gather

How can we benefit our community by sharing the blessing of our grounds & facilities?

On the non-profit partnership and youth athletics side, we provided use of our pools to Operation 300 (serving Gold Star Families) for camp weekends, saw our beach volleyball court used for practice by the young women of Martin County High School, allowed another local school use of our pools to kick-off an inaugural swim team, served as a much-needed back-up pool for the athletes of Gardens Synchronized Swim, welcomed our local Boy Scouts Troop to use our pools for swim testing, and regularly have players of TC Baskeball use our outdoor courts for practice (recognizing the severe shortage of gym space in Martin County).

We also continue to fund scholarship swim lessons through Pat Toner’s H2O Kids for children with disabilities and famlies with foster children or financial need–this year helping offset the costs of lessons for more than 20 children.

The VCP also served as a hub for events open to all, with the goal of strengthening the bonds of community. A few of those were a Cinco de Mayo Family Picnic in partnership with Our Community Table, Summer Member Appreciation Party & Open House, Easter Egg Hunt & Dog Parade, Fall Vendor & Craft Fair, Vintage Car Expo, Winter Concert, and monthly food truck nights.

Enrich

How can we enrich our community through programming?

We’ve welcomed an array of fitness and sports instructors to the grounds–hosting yoga classes, tennis and pickleball clinics, and continuing our water aerobics and rusty joints classes, led by our amazing volunteers. Our pickleball league practices and competes in local tournaments, and is always happy to introduce the sport to newcomers any given morning during open play! Our clubhouse has hosted countless art classes through our partnership with Palm City Art Associates and we continue to add new opportunities to our calendar on a monthly basis.

Eager for as many as possible to learn the life-saving skills of CPR and first aid, the VCP offered two sessions for our members and non-profit partners–allowing over 40 participants to attain those skills with no financial barrier. Our continuing education series proved to be a hit, with nearly 100 guests coming to learn about topics related to local history and health. Our beautiful grounds has also served as  home base for weeks of arts and sports camps for youth and we look forward with anticipation to launching our first in-house camp this summer–Camp VCP.

Serve

How can we serve the community through volunteerism?

In January, we hosted a Volunteer Apprecation Banquet in appreciation of 40+ regular volunteers who are the heart of our organization. This key team of volunteers serves as greeters–manning our front check-in desk during operating hours; grounds upkeep–mowing the north grounds and tackling a long list of maintenance tasks and projects; back-office–managing an array of functions around our member database, ongoing process improvement, new member onboarding, and volunteer scheduling; and operations and management–accounting, compliance, marketing, fundraising, events, and more! It is because of these committed volunteers and the leadership of our dedicated Board of Directors that we’ve been able to develop into a thriving organization over the last five years.

Whether you’re a Founding Member, a new member, a regular volunteer, or a family or individual who visits rarely but is proud of what we’ve built together in service to our community–we are thankful for your steadfast support of our organization and endeavors!
