During the March 14th Town Council Meeting, the plan to start the Blowing Rock Academy was approved. The Academy will be the first of its kind for a municipality in North Carolina, serving as a full-day child development center for children of Blowing Rock Town employees. The Blowing Rock Parks and Recreation Department will oversee the center, operating between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm in the Blowing Rock Clubhouse (pictured above). Ten children will be able to attend with a 1 to 5 ratio, while there is potential for up to 20 children should the need arise.

This is an incredible opportunity for Blowing Rock to combat the lack of childcare availability in Watauga County and promote employee retention through prioritizing family.

We'd like to thank the Town Council, Blowing Rock Parks and Recreation and Town Manager Shane Fox for working diligently and pioneering this benefit. And a special thank you to the Children's Council of Watauga County for their invaluable guidance!
