SPOTLIGHT ON ASHLEE HAYNIE
We would like to welcome Ashlee Haynie to the VUMC staff. If you have been in the CLC lobby in the last several months, you may have met Ashlee, VUMC's new receptionist. We wanted you to get to know her a little bit more, so we are spotlighting her this week. Please stop and welcome Ashlee the next time you are at the church during the week.

What are some things your family likes to do together OR what are your hobbies? I love to cross-stitch, make macramé, and read, while my husband and I love to play board games with friends.

Tell us a little about your family. I grew up in a large family as the oldest of 7 kids (4 girls & 3 boys). My parents are both from the middle Georgia area, and I grew up in Kathleen, Georgia. After college, I met and married JP Haynie, and we went off and lived in NYC for 9.5 years. We moved back to Macon in 2019, and JP is now the Producing Director at Macon Little Theatre.

What's the best vacation you've been on? Our trip to Paris, France, in 2018
If you could choose anything to do for a day, what would it be? I’d either take friends & family along to somewhere fun like Dollywood or Disney World OR I’d spend it whale watching OR I’d spend it exploring a city I’ve never been to, preferably in another country!

What are a few of your favorite books and/or movies? I love the Outlander series (Diana Gabaldon), the Mark of the Lions trilogy (Francine Rivers), the A Court of Thorns & Roses series (Sarah J. Maas), & I’ve been reading and rereading Gone with the Wind since I was in the 8th grade.

What’s a little-known fact about you that might surprise readers? I have a quirk where I often silently count the letters in words, phrases, and sentences. I can tell you how many letters are in a word very quickly, and before you ask, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious has 34 letters. ;-)

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY NEWS
Third Grade Lock-In
Every fall, Vineville presents Bibles to the third-grade class. For the last six years, we have added to that tradition by holding a Third Grade Bible Lock-In after the presentation. However, because of Covid, we had to postpone our lock-in until this past Friday night! It was well worth the wait! We had a competitive game of wiffleball, went on a scavenger hunt through the church, had midnight worship in the sanctuary followed by a fun game of Bingo with prizes and a glow stick party! Each third grader was also given a notebook that serves as a roadmap through the Bible to help them as they are learning to read through scripture. And this year's group holds two records: the longest delay between receiving Bibles and the lock-in, and the group to stay up the latest! (I'm still recovering! Ha!) I am so glad that this new tradition has come to complement the old tradition which our third graders look forward to each year.
