CCP Learning Module 2022
Standards for Medication Management
|
|
HAVE YOU completed your self-assessment against your standards of practice and chosen indicators that you will focus on for 2022? Choose at least one indicator and develop a learning plan for that indicator.
Tips for preparing a learning plan:
Choosing one or two indicators to focus on per year is suggested; however, the number of indicators chosen is a personal decision. Caution should be exercised when choosing the number of indicators as you want to ensure that your learning plan goals can be accomplished.
Your plan should support how you are going to meet your learning goals. NANB recommends that Learning Goals be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely (SMART). Click here for more information on SMART goals .
Completion of a learning module is a mandatory step in your annual CCP. This years’ Learning module is Standards for Medication Management.
The learning module has three components:
- Review The Standards for Medication Management;
- watch the webinar; and
- complete the quiz.
Completion of the learning module should take about 40 minutes. Visit NANB's website for more information.

Nursing regulation in the public interest for safe, competent care.
Nominations are now being accepted for the position of Directors in Regions 2 (Sussex, Saint John & Charlotte County), 4 (Edmundston) and 6 (Bathurst, Acadian Peninsula).
As per NANB by-laws, nursing positions on the Board of Directors continues to welcome all registrants in good standing. However, following a governance review we have adopted a best practice in Board composition by introducing a competency matrix model that identifies skill-gaps for recruitment efforts that would strengthen the Board with future decision making. Current Board composition would indicate a need for nurses with professional experience in administration/management, community health (EMP or PH), and or clinical practice.
The deadline for nominations is February 28, 2022. For more information and nomination forms, visit NANB's website.

The Nursing Care Plan (NCP)
The Nursing Care Plan (NCP) promotes evidence-based nursing practice, guides nursing care to achieve client centered health outcomes and contributes to quality and consistency in client care. This NEW Practice Guideline: The Nursing Care Plan provides direction and outlines the roles and responsibilities of nurses in the application of the NCP. A NEW FAQ on Nursing Care Planning provides additional information and guidance in particular situations.
NANB recognizes problematic substance use (PSU) is a serious and complex issue for all healthcare professionals. We encourage nurses to be attentive to recognizing and reporting suspected PSU, as early intervention improves a nurses’ likelihood to seek treatment (National Council of State Boards of Nursing [NCSBN], 2018). Recognition and reporting of suspect PSU also greatly minimizes the risk to client safety. This guideline is a resource for nurses to help facilitate an understanding of how to identify PSU, what to do when you suspect PSU in a colleague or yourself, support during recovery from PSU, and return to practice.

Remote Work to Assist with Competency Assessments of IENs
|
|
|
NCAS provides assessments for all Internationally Educated Nurses applying for registration in New Brunswick. Competency assessment to practice is an important part of assisting IENs in becoming successfully registered while supporting the current NB nursing workforce. New Brunswick government and NANB have been working with NCAS to provide a French language competency assessment, and NCAS (BCCM) is now posting for potential applicants to assist with that work. To support these efforts, NANB and the government were asked by NCAS to share the opportunity to nurses.
Remote work opportunity for a seasoned Project Manager and an Exam Developer (perhaps an educator who’s great at facilitating groups of smart people!).
