Season's Greetings
A Special Announcement from the Nurses Association of New Brunswick

This holiday season, on behalf of the Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce the appointment of NANB’s new CEO, Denise Leblanc Kwaw. Ms Kwaw will begin tenure at NANB on February 1, 2023. Ms. Kwaw previously worked in New Brunswick as a registered nurse for many years and is returning from various roles in Alberta and PEI, where she has filled the role of Principal Nursing Advisor for the past two years. Other nursing roles include a diverse clinical background, work with workload measurement and work in the private sector. Previous nursing regulatory roles include Registrar (NANB) and registration nursing consultant in Alberta and New Brunswick. Please join us in welcoming Denise Leblanc Kaw as the new NANB CEO.

NANB wishes registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and colleagues a season of peace and health into the New Year. With the rising costs of living and food insecurity top of mind for many individuals and families in our communities, the NANB has decided in lieu of an advertising campaign with Christmas cards, a provincial donation will be provided to NB Food Depot to assist with this serious public health problem. Together, our continued commitment to improved health status will make a difference for all New Brunswickers.

On behalf of the 8,400 nurses, the staff, and Board of Directors at NANB, may the New Year bring you peace, joy, and good health.
RN & NP Feedback Welcomed
A New Nurses Act
RNs and NPs were sent a survey last week to collect feedback on the proposed new Nurses Act project. The results will inform NANB Board and staff on further RN/NP priority concerns and questions as the work proceeds. Consultation opportunities will be ongoing regarding the association and the new legislation. Please participate in whatever manner you are able to assist this important nursing work going forward.

*If you have not received this survey, please check your spam/junk folder or email nanb@nanb.nb.ca to provide an alternate email to receive a survey link. The survey closes at the end of January 2023.

PMP Early Adopters and Testers
Are you looking for an opportunity to directly impact health care providers in our province? The Pharmaceutical Services Branch is implementing a new Prescription Monitoring Program early next year.   As an essential tool to combat the opioid crisis, the PMP allows authorized health care providers to view information on dispensed prescriptions. We are looking for early adopters and testers of our new all prescription PMP software. If you are interested, please contact us at pmp.psp@gnb.ca.

Be part of the solution by helping us implement our (technological) solution!
