BRAVE AND STRONG

Kelly was terrified when she first came to the Center. There were allegations that Kelly was being sexually abused by her father. She previously had a forensic interview at another CAC but wasn't ready to talk about the abuse. When she and her mom moved to Collin County, they sought therapy services at the Center. For the first couple sessions, Kelly said very little including her name, age, or details about her family, and she shut down easily when feelings were brought up. Through months of supportive therapy and building rapport with her therapist, Kelly now believes she has a voice and is strong. Kelly's mother reports that she walks around the house in a different way and even tells her mother how brave she is. In one of her last sessions, Kelly told her therapist that she is ready to give a final Forensic Interview and talk about the abuse she endured from her father.
