A Message from President Debby Canter
Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe that 2022 has arrived. Most of us focus on our health at the beginning of a new year, especially after all of the celebrating during the holidays. This is also a good time to take a look at the health of your chapter. International has a “Chapter Check Up” that you can use. Go to DKG, sign in, Resources, Chapter Tools, Chapter Strengthening, then it’s the first document. This would be a great tool to use for discussion at a chapter meeting.

Zeta Chapter celebrated its annual festive gathering on December 4 with the induction of Kathy Smith, a new member, and a successful auction which raised over $1,600 for scholarships and a tasty brunch.
Auctioneer, Michelle Schaffer, and her team encouraged Zeta members to donate.
Valerie Miller, one of the "auction elves" helped to keep the bids moving upward.
Empowering Girl Scouts Through DKG Patch Program
As I am sitting down to write this article, I have the words to a song that I learned over 40 years ago ringing in my head. The words go, “I've got something in my pocket. It belongs across my face, and I keep it very close at hand, in a most convenient place. I’m sure you couldn’t guess it if you guessed a long, long while . . .” As I was doing research, the tune kept getting intermingled with a favorite that we all know and love that I sang much more recently, “Women teachers to the calling, firmly rally never falling…” Do you know what they have in common? They are songs that unite groups of strong women to support each other as we grow, learn new skills, and do good things for our communities: The Girl Scouts of America and, of course, our very own chapters of DKG.

Let's ring in those
Delta Kappa Gamma OSO Bells together,
. . .as we enter in the New Year of 2022!
It’s that time of year when we begin again, a new calendar year. We leave behind those events that saddened us, treasure those cherished memories that brought us happiness, and then look forward to embracing the beginnings that the New Year of 2022 will hopefully be bringing. As we ring in the year of 2022, let’s embrace each member in our OSO chapters with a new sounding chime as we celebrate and unite women educators on our DKG 'Member' SHIP!

The Alpha Omega and Beta Chi Christmas dinner was held on December 1, 2021, with Alpha Omega hosting. The Alpha Omega Singing Lilies and the Beta Chi Singers were the entertainment for the evening.
President Donna DeWitt, Beta Alpha Chapter, introduced the guest speaker, Kathy Whaley. Her talk
entailed the study of dyslexia and techniques of how it's diagnosed and treated.
At Beta Kappa's December 6th meeting, they celebrated the holiday season with a number of games. Pictured above chapter members at each table worked together to solve a "Christmas Carol" crossword puzzle.
Beta Kappa President Molly Helmlinger played short snippets of various Christmas songs as members attempted to guess which song it was. Once the song was correctly guessed, members sang one verse together as Molly played it on the viola.
Beta Rho members recently held a food drive to benefit the Pickaway County Community Cupboards. Pictured are Kay Egbert, Carolyn Seitz, and Paula Thomerson.
Beta Eta Chapter held a combination live and silent auction to raise money for Imagination Library and the Beta Eta Chapter Scholarship fund. Members donated craft and food items for the auction.
World Fellowship Awareness
Want to make your members more aware of the World Fellowship fund – you know, something other than just sending in money? Here are some great ideas from the OSO list:

  1. Use articles from your international travels for table centerpieces.
  2. Have a trivia contest about the countries WF recipients represent.
  3. Host an international food night, with members preparing recipes from other countries.
  4. Have an international costume parade.
  5. Host a luncheon with a world traveler speaker.
  6. Ask members to research recipient countries, then decorate accordingly, and give brief reports.

These activities will quickly raise enthusiasm and awareness of the World Fellowship fund. This generated excitement will lead to more donations. Try one or two, or combine them all for a fun, informative international evening. Good luck!
