Happy New Year to you all!

I am so excited to see what God has in store for each of our lives, our church, and Children’s Ministry in 2021. If you are looking for the chance to get involved with some of our youngest disciples, ages Pre-K through 5th grade, I have an excellent opportunity for you!

I am happy to let you know that we will begin in-person Wednesday Night Live for Children on Wednesday, January 13th. You can find all of the details in the Children’s Ministry section below.

To keep everyone healthy physically and spiritually, Children’s Ministry is in desperate need of volunteers of all ages this semester on Wednesday nights to help with dinner and small group time. Kids are separated into groups by age to keep content and discussion developmentally appropriate and keep groups to 10 children or less. We will meet for one hour (6:30 - 7:30 PM) each week. To meet Safe Sanctuary requirements, we will need two adults in each room, so you will always have another adult to help get the job done. We need a total of eight volunteers each Wednesday to make this happen.

We have our largest turn out of children on Wednesday nights, and they need you to help teach them and show them God’s love! You don’t need any training or prior experience to impact the lives of these children. All materials and lessons will be provided for you in a user-friendly way.

If you have ANY interest in helping, please call, text, or e-mail Loren Buchanan ([email protected] or 903-932-1289). You can sign up by yourself and we will pair you with someone, or if you have a spouse, sibling, parent, or friend, you can sign up as a pair! You can pick as many nights to help as you would like – Even if you can only help for one Wednesday, we are grateful!

We will meet Wednesday, January 13th – March 10th, and then April 7th – 28th. Childcare is available for children under pre-k age (4 years old).

In Christ,
Loren Buchanan

Thank you to David Green, Waddell Sunday school class Treasurer, for sending us this picture of Ed Lewis on his last day leading class. He calls himself the class' “discussion leader” and he is retiring after 34 years of "teaching/leading" the Waddell class. Thank you, Ed, for your many years of dedicated service to so many of our church family!
Download the FUMC app!

  • Go to either the Android or Apple app store and search for "Church by MinistryOne." Once you have found the correct app (the icon should be purple with a white cross), you will hit "download" or "get."
  • Once the app has downloaded, launch the app.
  • Now you will want to search for "Longview First United Methodist Church." Our church logo and address will then populate. Tap on "More," and then "Select this church."
  • At this point, you will get a pop up asking if you would like to allow the app to send you notifications.
  • Once FUMC is your selected church, you will log in. To do this, tap "Profile," and then type in your email and cell phone number. You will then be prompted to validate your account via text or email. You will select how you want your code sent, and then once the code is received, you will enter the code into the app.
  • Once you are logged in, you will be taken to your profile! This is where you can make changes to your profile (such as phone number changes, address changes, and even add a payment method for giving!).
If you or someone you know is sick or hospitalized and is unable to attend worship with us, please let us know!
