GriefShare - Support in times of loss.

If you've ever lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you've probably found there are not many people who completely understand the deep hurt you're experiencing. This can be such a confusing time of feeling isolated, and you probably have many questions about things you've never faced before. This is what GriefShare is here for! Our GriefShare support ministry groups will begin meeting on Sunday, August 18th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the Parlor. We will meet weekly to help those experiencing grief to face the challenges associated with this type of pain and to move toward rebuilding their life, step by step. GriefShare meetings will last for 13 weeks and will consist of a series of sessions using a video-based curriculum to be facilitated by lay volunteers from our church family. We are so glad to be able to offer these sessions and hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity!

Leading sessions does not require specialized training, and the teaching is done through the 40-45 minute video lessons. Facilitators only need a willingness to give up their time to prepare for sessions and to lead the group through prepared discussion questions. If you would like to know more about how you could be part of this healing ministry, or if you'd like to register as a participant, please contact Shirley Lancaster at (913) 706-3874 or Rev. Nathan Firmin at the church office, at, or at (817) 919-3414.

Where are you connected?
Our middle school mission trip - Big House - to Baytown this past weekend was a great success! We enjoyed serving with St. Mark's UMC and learning more about ourselves and God through service. We also enjoyed visiting local landmarks like the USS Texas and San Jacinto Monument!
Sign up for Reading First!
Last year, the Reading First component of Terrific Tuesday was such a success that we have decided to extend it throughout the school year.

If you are interested in volunteering, select a date to volunteer and make a note of the theme for that date. Select a children's book that connects to that theme and, you can be as creative as you desire with the reading! The theme for September is Animals, for October is Careers, November is Thanksgiving and Fall activities, and December is Christmas!

Volunteers would need to arrive at Wesley-McCabe UMC by 4:00 PM and can expect to finish at 4:45 PM.

While we missed the Chancel Choir in traditional service this past Sunday, they did such an amazing job singing during worship at Newgate Mission!
