Hello Longview First United Methodist Church!
My name is Adrienne Acevedo, and I am excited to say that I am one of your new Associate Pastors. I am beyond thrilled to be joining the pastoral team here at FUMC and have already had the pleasure of meeting many of you. It has quickly become apparent to me that this church is warm, welcoming, and cares about the community it is a part of. I am looking forward to coming alongside the incredible things that are already happening here and joining you in ministry.
Just a few things about me: I have two wonderful kiddos - Natalie, who is eight and will be going into third grade this fall, and Luke, who is five and will be starting kindergarten. I am also engaged to my favorite person, Chris Stuckey. We’ll be getting married this fall, and are currently in the process of building our house. I would love to give you a list of hobbies I enjoy; however, I don’t even know what those are anymore between seminary classes, kids, and work. When I am able to, I love being outdoors, reading, and taking walks.
Again, I want to thank you for the warm welcome my family and I have received at FUMC. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any needs you may have. My cell number is
903.720.0018
. I am excited to be a part of this wonderful congregation, and I am looking forward to meeting each of you soon.
God’s Peace,
Pastor Adrienne Acevedo

Our in-person worship time
has changed to 9:15 AM!
Please still adhere to all in-person worship guidelines, and please arrive early to ensure you & your family will have seats!
We can't wait to see you!
|
|
Please remember that we are requiring all visitors to FUMC to wear masks during the entirety of your visit. This includes small group meetings and Sunday worship.
Thank you all for your understanding in this ever-changing environment. We hope that these safety measures will allow us to continue to allow in-person worship and small group gatherings!

Join us in August as we begin a new sermon series from the book of Matthew: Who Do You Say I Am?
As we head in to fall together, we will discover the many circumstances in life where we will be asked to answer that question: Who do we say Jesus is? We can't wait to worship with you in person or online as we dive into this series!

Thank you to so many of our volunteers for Virtual VBS 2020 - "Caring for God's Creation."
|
|
|
Thank you to our volunteers (John Shiver, Shirley Lancaster, Mary Carol Etheredge, Julie Moon, and Regina Fenderson) who helped put together 330 packets of Vacation Bible School materials to be delivered to our church families and children throughout the Longview community. We could not have done this without your help!
|
|
|
Thank you to Lee Scott, Stephen Scott’s father, for building bird houses for one of the mission/craft activities for Vacation Bible School. The kids faces lit up when they saw the bird houses as we passed materials out last week!
|
|
|
Special thanks to Brandon and David Cook who made virtual VBS possible through countless hours of filming and editing.

We need Terrific Tuesday volunteers!
A child needs you to volunteer with Terrific Tuesday. A child needs you to be a group leader, guide them between stations, listen to their silly jokes, and be attentive to their needs. A child needs you to read a story, make a character come alive, enrich their world with fascinating new places, and dream about distant worlds and times. A child needs you to help provide healthy snacks, introduce them to something other than chips and fruit roll-ups, and give them the energy they need to listen and have fun. A child needs you to share your gifts and abilities with special presentations in dance, music, and art, to bring out their creative side and bring beauty into their lives. A child needs you in their life.
- Group leaders (4) – leads 4-5 students to stations and assists at stations — no preparation required for each week. Volunteers are needed from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM. (We prefer you sign up for a month- if you have a busy schedule, pick November or December, as these months have fewer Tuesdays).
- Reading First Volunteers – pick one Tuesday (or more) to read a story. Volunteers are needed from 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM.
- Snack Volunteers – pick one Tuesday (or more) to provide a healthy snack for 25 students. Volunteers are needed from 3:15 PM - 3:45 PM.
- Dance/Music Volunteers – pick one Tuesday (or more) to share a presentation on dance or music with students. Volunteers are needed from 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM.
- Organize Craft Room – Volunteer to inventory and organize arts and craft supplies.
We will follow the COVID-19 protocols established for LISD. Contact Pastor Romnie to sign up at [email protected].
