"Our family has grown!" This sort of announcement is often followed by a marriage announcement or birth announcement. But in this case, it is a church announcement! On July 1, 2020, FUMC Longview and Wesley-McCabe UMC Longview officially entered into a ministry partnership. In case you still have questions about what this means, here are a few answers. These two churches are NOT merging. Each church maintains its boards, finances, and activities. The two churches WILL share pastors. What I am most excited about is that these two churches WILL work together to share God's word with our neighbors.

This partnership can be the opportunity through which Christ's light will shine into our community, supporting our mission to Be A Beacon of Hope for All. As we work together, we can strengthen Terrific Tuesday, an afterschool program serving the students at South Ward Elementary. We can listen to our neighbors and learn from their experiences. We can serve together within a diverse neighborhood. We can support programs and organizations that work to educate and empower. We can build new relationships. We can be the hands and feet of God in Longview.

Over the next few months, we will be getting to know one another and testing how this partnership works. There will be activities we do together, and some we do separately, but we will always be doing what is best to serve others. As we get to know one another, I hope you will find a Sunday to worship with our neighbors at Wesley-McCabe UMC, just as they are invited to worship with us. Learn someone's name, listen to their story, and allow God to plant a vision of what we can do together.

In Christ,
Pastor Romnie
Where are you connected?
Dear church family,

As you are likely aware, this past Friday, Governor Greg Abbott issued an order requiring all Texans to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth in public spaces in counties with 20 or more positive COVID-19 cases, with few exceptions. This is effective in Gregg county, among others, as of 12:01 PM July 3rd.

With this, we are now requiring all individuals to wear a mask while at FUMC Longview. This includes during worship and any small group gatherings.

Thank you all for your understanding in this ever-changing environment. We hope that these safety measures will allow us to continue to keep in-person worship open!

If you would like to read the official order from Governor Abbott, you may do so by clicking here .
We love and miss our church family! But we still want to love on you while observing social distancing! To do this, we've ordered yard signs for you to place in your yard or window.

Call the church office, or drop by during office hours to pick one up!
You loved the signs so much, we're putting it on a shirt!

We are making "I LOVE my church family shirts!"

Represent and show your love for FUMC Longview by purchasing a t-shirt! Shirts are $22 each (+$2 for sizes 2XL & 3XL), and sizes youth small - adult 3XL are available. You can order and pay online, or print and mail the order form and cash/check to the church office! Be sure to write "LOVE shirt" in the memo line if you pay with check.

SOS Texas week 4 has been cancelled  in the interest of health and due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in the area.

We completed 3 major projects including a total exterior house paint, and we delivered and put together 12 beds for kids. We will reschedule our other small projects for a later date.

We thank all our church family who delivered popsicles and lunches. You joined us in mission by helping feed us and we are appreciative. We also thank Cajun Tex of Hallsville who saw us working and treated us to lunch. Johnny, the owner, saw us working and remembered his mission work in youth. I encourage you to try his place in Hallsville - it is delicious! Burgers, seafood, meat pies and beignets.

Thank you to our home site owners: Dian and Charles Beaird, Riley Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Bishop, and Mrs. June Perryman. Special appreciation to Steve Jones, Lee Killingsworth, Jake Hall, Ric Hawthorne, and Chris London for giving their time and talents to be adult leaders. We have started something special, and we hope to be able to widen our scope of mission next year.

Peace, Janice Crane
We need Terrific Tuesday volunteers!

A child needs you to volunteer with Terrific Tuesday. A child needs you to be a group leader, guide them between stations, listen to their silly jokes, and be attentive to their needs. A child needs you to read a story, make a character come alive, enrich their world with fascinating new places, and dream about distant worlds and times. A child needs you to help provide healthy snacks, introduce them to something other than chips and fruit roll-ups, and give them the energy they need to listen and have fun. A child needs you to share your gifts and abilities with special presentations in dance, music, and art, to bring out their creative side and bring beauty into their lives. A child needs you in their life.

  • Group leaders (4) – leads 4-5 students to stations and assists at stations — no preparation required for each week. Volunteers are needed from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM. (We prefer you sign up for a month- if you have a busy schedule, pick November or December, as these months have fewer Tuesdays).
  • Reading First Volunteers – pick one Tuesday (or more) to read a story. Volunteers are needed from 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM.
  • Snack Volunteers – pick one Tuesday (or more) to provide a healthy snack for 25 students. Volunteers are needed from 3:15 PM - 3:45 PM.
  • Dance/Music Volunteers – pick one Tuesday (or more) to share a presentation on dance or music with students. Volunteers are needed from 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM.
  • Organize Craft Room – Volunteer to inventory and organize arts and craft supplies.

We will follow the COVID-19 protocols established for LISD. Contact Pastor Romnie to sign up at
The ACEARF Board has decided to cancel their fundraiser event for this year. The scheduled event on September 24th will not be held because of prevailing circumstances at this time and uncertainty about the immediate future. Thank you for your understanding.
