We are experiencing a tremendous amount of change. There has been significant progress in the fight against COVID-19, another school year has ended, and spring is giving way to summer. Here at FUMC, we have also been experiencing a tremendous amount of change.

Adrienne, Loren, Ashley, and Jeremy will all be leaving our staff in June for various personal reasons. While these changes are difficult for us at FUMC because we feel the loss of these changed circumstances, they represent blessings for those moving on to new opportunities. Adrienne will be joining Chris in their family business, Loren and Travis will be returning to West Texas for new teaching and coaching opportunities, Ashley is exploring a dream career in modeling, and Jeremy is transferring with his primary employer to join his wife, Amanda, as she embarks in a new role with Farm Bureau Insurance. These are all significant opportunities and exciting new chapters for each of these valued members of our staff.

With these changes, we have exciting new opportunities to restructure our team and better serve FUMC to be a beacon of hope for all. Betty Kirkindoll has joined our staff to replace Ashley, and she is a gifted and experienced administrator who has most recently worked at First Christian Church in Longview. We are in an extensive search for a new worship leader that we hope will serve in a more expanded role in a restructured team. We are also working hard to find a new Children's Director, which will likely require an interim while we seek someone who will continue expanding and deepening our ministry for children and their families. We will not be replacing Adrienne immediately due to timing in the appointment season, but we hope to appoint a new associate pastor in 2022.

While these staffing matters are visible and impactful changes at FUMC, they are not the only changes taking place. Pastor David Lee graduated from seminary with his Master of Divinity degree last week, Pastor Adrienne will complete her seminary education this summer, and just last night, Madison Garcia was commissioned as a probationary elder in the United Methodist Church. She was raised here at FUMC and is the daughter of Joe and Beth Garcia. She is currently the associate pastor at Lufkin FUMC. We congratulate each of them on these milestones. We have also had numerous new births into our congregation in May, along with baptisms and new members joining our church family. These births, baptisms, and new memberships remind us of the continual movement of God to bring new life into our midst.

We are in a season of change. The Holy Spirit is moving powerfully at FUMC. May we not only witness these changes but also engage faithfully to be participants in God's continuing movement of change in and through FUMC.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jay

We have great news! Twelve students will be attending Lakeview Summer Church Camp from June 21-25. These students are boys and girls ranging in age from 9-15 and will be staying within their appropriate age group at Lakeview. Per Lakeview guidelines, there is a 6:1 student to adult ratio that FUMC must follow. Youth and children ministries need one male adult chaperone to attend Lakeview Summer Church Camp from June 21-25.

Lakeview Methodist Conference Center is excited to welcome campers back in 2021 after a break in 2020. As Lakeview welcomes students back to camp, the staff and directors take all precautions to be COVID-19 free. If you are interested in experiencing some fun and would like more information, please contact Janice Crane at or call the church office at 903-753-4463.
Join us Sundays through June 20th for our Pentecost Worship Sermon Series!
Join us as we reflect on passages from the early church that demonstrate how early Christians embraced the winds of change. These passages point us to faithfulness as we embrace the winds of change today. As we emerge from a challenging season due to COVID-19, racial conflict, and political divisiveness in our world, we will explore ways to embrace the winds of change and thrive.
