"Oh, the Lord is good to me.
And so I thank the Lord
for giving me the things I need,
like the sun and the rain and the apple seed.
The Lord is good to me."

This is one of my girls' favorite blessings to sing before we eat dinner. As we prayed this blessing before we ate dinner last night, these words seemed to really sink in. As my family and I prepare to begin our new journey in Sundown, I am reminded of how good the Lord is to me.

First Methodist Longview, along with School for Little Children, holds such a special place in my heart. I grew up going to Sunday School and singing in the children's choir here. I was confirmed, baptized, and married in our Sanctuary. Now Travis and I have had both of our girls baptized in our church. My children now walk the same halls as I did at SFLC many years ago. God has provided a loving and Christian-based education to build a foundation for me and my girls.

God provided the opportunity for me to experience serving in ministry - an opportunity I never knew I needed. It has been an honor to be involved in ministry here at FUMC Longview. Getting to know, teach, and love each of the children and their families and the members of our congregation has been such a privilege. You have blessed my life more than you could ever know. My prayers for you and this church will continue to be steadfast.

Luckily, this isn't goodbye, just see you later! I will be back to visit my family often, and I look forward to worshipping with my Longview church family again soon.

In Christ,
Loren Buchanan
Where are you connected?
The CARE Team is looking for some men to join in their efforts to keep church members who are homebound or in nursing homes connected to the life of FUMC. Our incredible team does a great job at helping these members know they are loved, prayed for, and thought about fondly by their church home. We have several men who are visited by our team, and we know it would be so meaningful for them if they were visited by male members of the CARE Team. This is where you come in! If you are interested in joining this important team, call the church office at 903-753-4463 or email Pastor David at [email protected].
Thank to all who stopped by our Father's Day photobooth this past Sunday!
We only need 3 more VBS Volunteers!
VBS is a month away, and we still need 5 volunteers!

We are looking for adults that are available to volunteer with the following task:
  • 3 people to help serve food at the churchwide luncheon on Sunday (around 11:30 AM)

Please scan the QR code to sign up or contact Loren at [email protected].
Please prayerfully consider teaching Children's Sunday School for the 2021-2022 school year. You will be on a rotational basis and teach approximately once a month, so you can still participate in your adult class. You can sign up with or without a teaching partner! We need 4 more teachers!

“Let my teaching fall like rain, and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.” Deuteronomy 32:2

20 students painted, mowed, and removed fencing as part of S.O.S. Texas Edition last week! Over 3 days we worked to ready Wesley McCabe for Terrific Tuesday in the fall. Terrific Tuesday is an educational enhancement program to serve students in grades 1st-5th. It is the first of what we hope will be many opportunities to serve and partner with neighbors in South Longview.
Grill & Swim continues this Wednesday, June 23. This week we will meet on the North Lawn for water games, a slip-n-slide, and a giant water slide!

All students entering 6th grade through high school graduates are welcome to join us. Bring a towel and modest swimwear.
