As I reflect on my short time here at FUMC, I am struck by how much I have gotten to witness God at work in our midst. I have witnessed a congregation pivot to online worship during a pandemic, remaining faithful to our call to gather together. I have seen and felt firsthand how welcoming FUMC was to two new pastors in the middle of unprecedented... well, unprecedented everything. I watched as an entire congregation voted not only to accept Wesley McCabe’s building as a Legacy Church but also to continue the decades of ministry happening on the south side of Longview there. In one short year, I witnessed FUMC do hard things in the name of following hard after God.

As I prepare to begin a new chapter in my own life, I will carry that witness with me. Change is inevitable, but we can choose how we respond to it. I will be forever grateful for my time here at FUMC and will use what I learned here to respond well to the changes happening in my own life. Thank you so much for the love and kindness you have shown me, Chris, Natalie, and Luke. You made us feel like family from the start, and I know that will remain true even as we move on to new adventures.

Keep doing hard things, FUMC. Follow hard after God.

God’s Peace,
Pastor Adrienne
Where are you connected?
Have you ever thought about being an Usher on Sunday mornings? As more and more people come back to church, we find ourselves in need of more Ushers on Sunday mornings. If you are willing to help us distribute bulletins, open doors, welcome people to church, and help take the offering at either our Ascension (8:30) or Beacon (10:45) Sanctuary Worship services, please contact the church office at 903-753-4463 or email Pastor David at, and we will get you in the rotation. Thanks for serving!
Join us in all worship services beginning July 11th for a 7-week sermon series on Ephesians.
Welcome to the FUMC Staff, Betty Kirkindoll!
Betty has been married to her husband, David, for 22 years. She has a son and stepson and three grandchildren.

Betty was in mortgage lending for 30 years before retiring. After working for so many years, she decided that total retirement was not for her, and began working part-time at First Christian Church. That position quickly became a full-time position. After careful consideration, Betty decided to apply for the Administrative Assistant role here at FUMC.

We are so happy to have Betty as a part of our team!
Our Lakeview campers had a blast last week!
2nd-5th graders had a great time last week learning about the stained glass in our Sanctuary and then painting their own “stained glass tile” at Mud Hut!
