Longview First United Methodist Church

   WE NEED YOU! This Easter we are doing something BIG at FUMC Longview! This Easter, April 17th we will be hosting our Easter Sunrise Service at Heritage Plaza in Downtown Longview. This will be a combined service of all the best parts of FUMC worship. Paul Roberts will be there with a brass ensemble, Keven Braswell and our Contemporary Worship band will be playing, Pastor Jay will be preaching a great Easter Sunday message, and we want you to be there too! It will be a service for not only our church but a chance for our community to come together and celebrate our risen Savior Jesus Christ! In the coming weeks we will be advertising this service throughout the community through all different kinds of media but we wanted you to know about it first so you would be prepared when people ask you questions. The service will be on April 17th at Heritage Plaza 219 E. Methvin St. in downtown Longview and will start at 6:30AM. 

   Now that you know the details, here is what we need from you, the members of FUMC Longview. We need you to be involved in all parts of this great morning of worship. We need people to come out early and help us set up, we need people to help greet and welcome people as they arrive, we need people to be our voice into the community and invite friends, neighbors, and co-workers, we need people to help clean up and pack up after we are finished. This will be a great time of worship and a chance for us to reach out and spread the word of God into the greater Longview community. So on Sunday April 17th bring a chair, a friend, and your heart of worship to Heritage Plaza and join us for Sunrise Worship! If you want to be involved in this event in any way listed above or in another way please talk to a pastor or call the church office. We look forward to seeing you at Heritage Plaza!

We need volunteers for our kick-off event at the Beacon Center, Centro Casa de Luz, our South Campus! We need people Saturday March 26 at 1:00pm to set up for the kick-off at 3:00pm. Wednesday Lenten study with Pastor Jay begins TONIGHT Wednesday, March 9th at 6:30pm in Nicholson Chapel and will also be offered Thursdays at 10:00am in the Heritage Room for the Women's Bible Study. Pastor David will be leading an Online Study via Zoom Mondays at 7pm.

“Eggstravaganza” – Sunday, April 10^th, Palm Sunday – After the Beacon worship service, everyone is invited to enjoy lunch in the Faith Center, then watch the fun and excitement as the children hunt eggs!

The church will be providing ham, green beans, macaroni & cheese, and rolls for lunch. People are welcome to bring a favorite side dish or dessert to share!

Containers will be placed around the church to collect pre-filled eggs for the children to hunt. Families are asked to bring 12 pre-filled eggs for each child who will participate, but anyone may donate to the hunt!

Holy Week in an Eggshell - Wednesday, April 13th – Families of all ages and stages are invited to participate in a worship service that allows for a unique way to experience the story of the last week of Jesus’ life. This service will be offered at 6:00 pm in the Faith Center.

Wednesday Night Live for children Pre-K to 5th grade, including music, dinner, and activities, is now meeting each week from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm! Dinner is provided for all children on Wednesday nights! A kid friendly menu has been created, and a donation of $5 per meal would be appreciated to help with food and preparation costs. Here is the link to donate: Wednesday Night Live Children's Dinner Donation. See you Wednesdays for faith, fun, and fellowship! For more information, contact Jana at [email protected], or 903-753-4463.

SENSATIONAL SUMMER

AT SCHOOL FOR LITTLE CHILDREN

It’s going to be a “Sensational Summer” at School for Little Children as we “RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE!” SFLC will soon be registering students for our special summer program, May 31-July 29. August classes will be available to full time students. Classes for infants through students entering the fourth grader will be available.

Come join us for a fun - filled summer! Registration will open to First Methodist members on Tuesday, March 22 at 7:15 a.m. Registration will open to the public on Thursday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. For additional information, contact the school office at 753-3121.

Thank you very much for your support of our UMW Fern Fest. Please remember to pick up your ferns from 1-3 pm on Saturday March 19 or from 9:30-12:30 Sunday morning March 20. We will load them in your vehicle under the portico in front of the church office. We appreciate you & hope you enjoy your ferns!
