Join us for Virtual VBS 2020!

Summer is almost here, and that means Vacation Bible School is right around the corner! We are so excited about this summer’s VBS activities and can’t wait to gather virtually to learn more about “Caring for God’s Creation.” We will be doing a virtual VBS, and it is going to be packed with action! We are merging VBS and Missions for kids and their families this summer. Each day will have a mission component, a lesson, arts and crafts, games to play at home, and/or science.

Mrs. Loren and Pastor Romnie will be presenting this material LIVE at 2:00 PM from Monday, July 20th – Thursday, July 23rd, on Facebook, YouTube, and the church website. However, if you are not able to tune in at 2:00 on those days, don’t worry! You can go back and watch our videos at any time! We want everyone to participate! There will be a Kona Ice Party at the church on Friday, July 24th, to celebrate the week (More details to come!).

We will be assembling bags will all of the materials you will need for the week of VBS. We need to know if you will be joining in on the fun, so please make sure and register by Sunday, May 31st, by calling the church office or going to . We are encouraging kids going into pre-k through sixth grade to sign up, but there are no age requirements! We will have a drive-thru materials pick up on Thursday, July 16th, from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM so you will have everything you need to experience this new and exciting opportunity.

Join us on May 27th at 6:00 PM for our second Virtual Town Hall Meeting!

We'll live stream on our Facebook ( ) and website ( ) some of the exciting things happening at FUMC Longview.

Pastor J ay will be answering any questions you may have during the live stream, and will be responding to your feedback. To help you understand the parameters we must consider in this process, we are providing you with "Guidelines for Reopening Churches" from Bishop Jones. Please read these guidelines prior to our meeting to prepare for our time together.
We love and miss our church family! But we still want to love on you while observing social distancing! To do this, we're ordering yard signs for you to place in your yard or window. If you'd like to pick up a sign for your home, go to  and fill out the form!
Act quick - we have a limited quantity of signs available!
We only need $8,000 to wrap up our fundraiser for the Children's Wing. Thank you to those who have given to this project. Please prayerfully consider a donation to help us finish this makeover. You can give online at  or send a check in to the church. All donation are greatly appreciated!
UMW is sponsoring a gift card shower for Foster Kids graduating out of the system.

Please bring gift cards from Walmart or Target and drop them in the church office by the end of May.

There are 14 students graduating in our region. The gift cards we receive will be divided between the kids. Please also give notes of encouragement to the students. If you place your gift card in a card, please do not seal it! Also, please be sure to write the amount of the gift card on each card purchased.

We hear every year how much this means to the kids, and these gifts will be especially welcomed this year since we cannot have our typical face-to-face shower. Thank you to Marilyn Coggin and Susan Saikin for spearheading this important mission.

Unfortunately, UMW had to cancel our annual Garden Sale rather than postpone it. We did have many pans of frozen chicken spaghetti. With the help of Linda Cook and Romnie Scott, we worked out a plan. Romnie found ministries in our area including Meals with Love, Newgate Mission, Graciously Broken, House of Hope, Sonshine Lighthouse, Rehab's Retreat, Restoring Joy, and Highway 80 Rescue that could use food at this time.

Between UMW members, Genesis class, Grace Lowrey class, and New Beginnings class, we sold all 32 pans of chicken spaghetti as donations and delivered them to these ministries this past week.

UMW made $320 plus some donations to begin their fundraising for local missions. Thank you to those who bought the pans. Hopefully the whole church will have the opportunity to participate in our local mission fundraisers during the coming months.
If you or someone you know is sick or hospitalized and is unable to attend worship with us, please let us know!
