Our Drive-Thru Food Drive on May 4th
was a huge success!
Thank you to everyone who came by to donate canned food and to those who mailed in checks and called in money pledges! All in all, we collected 3,006 cans and raised $2,181 - all for Longview Community Ministries! As promised, the Pastor with the most votes was dunked on Facebook Live at 5:00 PM. The lucky winner was Pastor Jay!
Important Changes to VBS 2020!
We have made the difficult decision to move VBS this summer online, as we will be merging VBS and Missions for kids and their families.

"Caring for God's Creation" Virtual VBS will be July 20th - July 24th. Each day at 2:00 PM, we will live stream the following on Facebook, YouTube, and our website:
  • A daily missions component
  • Science
  • Arts & crafts
  • Games
  • Daily lesson

We will have a drive-thru materials pick up on Thursday, July 16th from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM so you will have everything you need for your child or children to experience this new and exciting opportunity!

To sign up, head to VBS2020.LVFUMC.ORG .
Loren & Janice were so happy to see so many of their kiddos on April 30th for Sonic treat day! We served 92 people sweet treats and devotionals!
Parents: We need your senior's information ASAP! Please send the following information to Janice Crane ASAP!!!
High School Seniors and Parents:
We are hosting a "Senior Spotlight" on social media for each graduating Senior through April and May. We will showcase a couple of seniors each week, but we need your help!
Please email the following info to me at jcrane@longviewfumc.org :
- One recent photo of your Senior (this can be an individual or a family picture - please ensure the image is RECENT and from their Senior year of High School)
- A photo of your Senior in recreation or an extracurricular activity.
- Your Senior's t-shirt size.
- Student's name, parents' names, High school graduating from, and their plans after graduating.
- If you have a favorite scripture, please include this with the information.
- If you have a favorite memory or experience from FUMC Youth, please include this as well.
 - Your Senior's answer to the following question: "What has the experience of self-isolation, COVD-19, and other challenges of the last few months shaped you, made you appreciate something more, or any realizations about life, faith or yourself?"
With the traditional S.O.S. Memphis trip cancelled, we are changing up our summer mission experiences! We are excited to announce "S.O.S. - Texas Edition" - as we will be bringing our love of the Memphis mission organization to Longview! We may not be able to go to Memphis or Galveston as initially planned, but we are bringing our love and call to mission to Longview. We are inviting all students in 6th-grade through graduating seniors, college students, and young, middle, and wiser adults to join us in home repair mission this summer. Most of all, we need parents partnering with us this summer in this endeavor.

We are currently looking for homeowners within East Texas in need of some disciples to roof, paint, garden, build, or repair their homes. Our 2020 S.O.S. Adult team leaders will be helping us access projects for us to complete this summer. We hope to have the details by May 25.

Our start date will be decided as soon as we can navigate the parameters of COVID-19 and ensure the safety and health of all volunteers and homeowners. Our mission will last one to five weeks, depending on the nature of each job site. Volunteers will be able to register for the week that works into their schedule, but we do ask that you commit to at least a full week to ensure we stay on deadlines. We are currently working on a registration process. Facebook and "The Voice" will be the best ways to stay up to date on our progress.

We invite you to join us and experience Service Over Self, Texas-style. We have the Gospel, hospitality, and drive to be beacons of hope for all in East Texas. I hope you will take this opportunity to join your student in mission. We will have devotionals, meals, worship, and other much-loved S.O.S. activities as part of our mission.

We need you to help see this through. If you have questions, please contact Janice at jcrane@longviewfumc.org.
Don't forget - Janice will be "zooming" with students on Sundays and Wednesdays at 3:00 PM!
Students can stay connected to FUMC Youth ministry during this period of social distancing! Janice and Jake both are active on instagram and snapchat, and will be sending devotionals, prayers, and suggestions while you are at home!

UMW Foster Youth Graduates
In place of the typical graduation shower we hold each year for children in foster care that are graduating high school, UMW is collecting gift cards (from either Target or Walmart) to give to these children.

This is coordinated through Community Partners for Children. Gift cards can be dropped off at the church office through the end of May, and we will send them to the coordinator!
Life Together at FUMC Longview
Join us for a scavenger hunt - digital style.

  5. The object of the game is for your team to strategically complete challenges from the scavenger hunt list and text photos of completed tasks as quickly as possible to receive points.
