November 10, 2021
As we are coming off the heels of All Saints Sunday - where we remembered those that passed this past year and at the same time renewed our communion with all the saints that have gone - we have a different opportunity. Next Wednesday, we will have a chance to renew our communion with each other as we gather around tables for our Thanksgiving Potluck. I can’t think of a better place to be next week than gathering with church family as we share dishes with one another. This isn’t just a potluck, but a kickoff to a 6-week celebration of thanks, hope, and joy as we transition from Thanksgiving to Advent and Advent to the New Year. We hope you make plans to join us not only for the Thanksgiving Potluck but also for the entire holiday season.

As you are making your plans, I’ll remind you to plan your dish for next week. The church will be providing the meat (turkey and ham), dressing, and drinks. We will trust our church family to provide sides and desserts to be shared by all those in attendance. This is a churchwide event, so we will not be having our adult studies or children or youth activities. We will still have choir practice at 6:40 PM, so even our choir members can join in this meal. We want to gather as a family and bring in the holiday season together.

Please join us next Wednesday, November 17th, at 6:00 PM in the Faith Center for this great fellowship event!

In Christ,
Pastor David

Volunteers needed for Handbells & Hot Chocolate before the Christmas Parade
Each year we offer hot chocolate to the spectators at the Longview Christmas Parade. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with our neighbors and spread the Christmas cheer by being a Beacon of Hope for All during this season. This year's parade is on December 2. Volunteers will need to arrive at 5:15 PM and the parade starts at 6:30 PM. Call the church office to sign up or contact Pastor Romnie for more information.
WNL for Children

WNL will wrap up for the fall for children ages Pre-K to 5th-grade tonight. This month, we discussed thankfulness and created table decorations for our Churchwide Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner on November 17.

Thank you to all who volunteered on Wednesday nights this fall. We have had fun and have grown in our faith this fall. The children's ministry could not function without our volunteers and their dedication to the faith journey of our children. Save the date - WNL will resume on January 12, 2022!
All children in grades 2-5 are invited to participate as an acolyte during Beacon Worship. Parents, please check your calendars and click here to sign your acolyte(s) up to serve! This will allow us to print their names in the bulletin each Sunday. Email Jana at with questions.
FUMC Youth Ministry is celebrating World Kindness this weekend - November 13 and 14! Join us in highlighting good deeds in the community through the common thread of Kindness. Youth, parents, and adult volunteers are invited to join us for some specific opportunities to share and do acts of love for others. To see our opportunities please head to our Facebook page or sign up with Janice at or 903-918-7801 with your choice of activity. On Saturday, November 13 we will meet at the church at 8:15 AM to grab breakfast and prayer before starting our projects.

How can you help us spread kindness?
  • Donate items for our Newgate blessing bags. We are collecting toothbrushes, small toothpaste, white crew or tube socks, deodorants, individually wrapped snacks & hard candies, bus passes, and chapsticks for 35 bags.
  • Join us! We are baking, building, writing, cleaning, smiling, and doing other things to shine kindness. Join one of our projects or step out and do one on your own. Let us know how you joined us.
  • Donate to our offering that we will be gifting to Newgate Mission and UMCOR! Make a donation to one of these locations and we will say “thank you” with one of our Kindness t-shirts. Proceeds will be made in memory of Carter Mayes who showed Kindness wherever he went.
  • Pray with us and for us and for those we encounter!
**Seniors - we will have rehearsal for Hanging of the Greens on Sunday, November 14, and Saturday, November 27 in the Sanctuary at 2:00 PM!**
