"We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing..."

Every year around Thanksgiving this song gets stuck in my head. It's a beautiful hymn and we usually sing it around this time, so it always makes me think of turkey and getting together with my family.

One of the beautiful traditions we've recently started at FUMC is our church-wide Thanksgiving dinner, or, as I like to call it, our Churchgiving (similar to Friendsgiving). Tonight, at 5:30 in the Faith Center, we'll gather together to ask the Lord's blessing and also to enjoy the company of our beloved brothers and sisters in Christ...and some really yummy food. You can bring a side dish or dessert to share! Or if you forgot or don't have time, just don't worry about it - we'll have plenty!

We have had a beautiful and blessed year as a church family and it is right that we should come together to give thanks. I know that when I start to name the blessings of 2019, my FUMC church family will be at the top of the list.

Come gather together and let's give thanks!

Reading First continues to be a wonderful component of Terrific Tuesday, and will continue into the Spring semester.

If you are interested in volunteering to read at Reading First, select a date to date to volunteer and make a note of the theme for that date. Select a children's book that connects to that theme and you can be as creative as you desire with the reading! The theme for January is Mountains, February is US Geography, March is Fine Arts, April is World Geography, and May is Water Fun. Reading First begins January 7th and ends May 12.

Volunteers would need to arrive at Wesley McCabe UMC by 4:00 PM and can expect to finish at 4:45 PM.

To sign up, call or email Pastor Romnie at or 903-753-4463.
