I am connected to my family: we share a name, we share DNA, and we share a relationship. But most importantly, we share a mutual love for one another! I am also connected to this community. My address reminds me that I live in Longview, but far more than an address, I am connected to this community in relationships. As of last week, I am a tax-paying property owner here. LeAnn and I have set roots in this community, as we have connected here and have committed to making it our home.

Many folks have been making connections at FUMC. They may have begun by checking us out on TV or watching a livestream of worship. They perhaps summoned the courage to visit for a worship service or an event. They may have been asked by a friend or encouraged to try a class. They might have even engaged in one of our activities or served in some capacity in the opportunities we offer here.

This Sunday is Open Membership Sunday. After each worship service, we will offer our visitors an opportunity to connect deeper at FUMC through membership. We stand with open arms to welcome those connecting here and want to connect with us deeper. We are ready for you to more deeply connect with us and our mission to be a beacon of hope for all. If you are prepared to take the next step in your relationship with FUMC Longview, join us at the altar to connect and commit to our church family. We will provide information on opportunities to deepen your connections and a brief information sheet to help us more deeply connect with you. We will then offer you the vows of the church where you commit to us through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. We'll also take you and your family's picture so we may introduce you to the church, and we'll be present to answer any additional questions or help in any way.

We are excited to connect with you and help you connect with God's grand mission for us all here. We hope you accept this invitation to join us on this exciting journey together.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jay
Where are you connected?
Candy Caravan was a success! Thank you to everyone who prayed for no rain, directed traffic, donated candy, dressed up as a character and manned a station, brought tents, counted cars, and helped clean up - we could not have done it without you! There were a total of 107 cars that drove through and 201 children that heard the Bible stories and received candy. What a blessing!
Mark your calendars for Hanging of the Greens 2020!

This year, Hanging of the Greens will be on November 29th. Please note that this is the Sunday after Thanksgiving. High school seniors will have the opportunity to be a part of this special worship service.

FUMC Longview has launched our very own app!
We are excited to announce the FUMC app is now available for you to download. Follow the steps below to download the app, and check our Facebook page for an instructional video on how you can do things like check-in on Wednesday nights or on Sundays, fill out forms, and so much more!

To download the app:
  • Go to either the Android or Apple app store and search for "Church by MinistryOne." Once you have found the correct app (the icon should be purple with a white cross), you will hit "download" or "get."
  • Once the app has downloaded, launch the app.
  • Now you will want to search for "Longview First United Methodist Church." Our church logo and address will then populate. Tap on "More," and then "Select this church."
  • At this point, you will get a pop up asking if you would like to allow the app to send you notifications.
  • Once FUMC is your selected church, you will log in. To do this, tap "Profile," and then type in your email and cell phone number. You will then be prompted to validate your account via text or email. You will select how you want your code sent, and then once the code is received, you will enter the code into the app.
  • Once you are logged in, you will be taken to your profile! This is where you can make changes to your profile (such as phone number changes, address changes, and even add a payment method for giving!).
