I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be than right here at FUMC on a Wednesday night! As we look to kick off our Wednesday Night Live programming this week, we do so on the heels of a great time of fellowship last week. The ice cream, desserts, special guests, and fun times with friends are only a preview of what’s to come.

As you plan your Wednesday nights in the fall, I hope you will consider one of our Adult Studies. Pastor Jay will be taking a deeper dive into Exodus as he follows up our Sunday messages with a closer look at what God is doing in Exodus and what that means for us today. Pastor David (that’s me) will be doing a study entitled “We Believe,” in which we will look at the history of the Methodist Church. From our “founding father,” John Wesley, to what we believe about the Bible, grace, the sacraments, and how we are organized as a denomination, and what sets us apart in our beliefs and practices from churches around us. The Kids and Youth will also be back in full swing with music time for the kiddos, dinner, and fun activities. Communion will be offered in the Heritage Room at 6:15 PM through the use of the pre-packed wafer and cup. While this isn’t ideal, it is what we feel is best at this time. We look forward to a time where this can be more of a service with singing and bread and juice in the near future.

We understand if you can’t make it to our in-person activities at this time. We will be offering both of our Adult Studies in recorded format on Thursdays. A link will be available on our website. We hope that you will connect with God and with FUMC this fall! Look below for a full list of the offerings for Wednesday Night Live this fall!

Blessings,
Pastor David
Where are you connected?
Since July, we have returned to a more traditional communion service, although we still offer sealed communion elements in the pews. Have you ever thought about assisting with communion service at our Ascension (8:30) or Beacon (10:45) Sanctuary Worship services? Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month. Areas of service include assisting the pastors during the communion service at either worship service as well as preparing the elements and set-up of the altar. If you are interested in this area of service, please contact the church office at 903-753-4463 or email Stancy Simpson at stancysimpson77@gmail.com for more information.
We will only have one worship service on Sunday, September 5 in observance of Labor Day. Our church office will also be closed the following day, Monday, September 6.
Children's WNL Details

WNL starts TONIGHT for children ages Pre-K to 5th grade. We are so excited to meet this fall on Wednesdays from 6:00 - 7:30 PM, September 1 - November 10. We will be learning about taking initiative, launching into action, and how we are God's custom creations.

Be sure to pre-order your child's Chick-fil-A dinners by noon each Tuesday (see the flyer below for more details). Check-in will be in the North Foyer at 6:00 PM. Children will enjoy music, dinner, and group activities. Pick up will be in the North Foyer at 7:30 PM.

We're excited to see you on Wednesdays for faith, fun, and fellowship! For more information, contact Jana at jana@lvfumc.org or 903-753-4463.
Wednesday Night Live will begin TONIGHT, but we still need volunteers!
We will need weekly volunteers each Wednesday for children ages Pre-K through 5th grade from September 1 - November 10. You will guide small groups of children from 6:20-7:30 PM. Please click the button below to sign up! The kids will be happy to see you and you will be blessed to be a vital part of our Children's Ministry!
Acolyte training was held this past Sunday, and all the children did a wonderful job! All children in grades 2-5 are invited to participate as an acolyte. Parents, please check your calendars and click here to sign your acolyte(s) up to serve! This will allow us to print their names in the bulletin each Sunday. Email Jana at jana@lvfumc.org with questions.
We need donations for Terrific Tuesday!
We are collecting old science textbooks, microscopes, and other science items to use as decoration in our Exploration Science Center for Terrific Tuesday. We are also collecting gently used children's books and model trains or other train-related items to decorate the Reading First room. Items can be dropped off in the church office. Contact Pastor Romnie for more information.

What does it mean to be chosen?
The FUMC Men’s Discipleship Group meets every Thursday for lunch from 12:00-1:00 PM in Nicholson Chapel.

The group is starting a new study on the hit TV series The Chosen. Each week the group watches an episode of The Chosen. Then, the episode is discussed along with Bible reading. The Chosen Interactive Bible Study book is also used allowing the group to dive more deeply into each episode as we explore the life of Jesus. A Chick-fil-A lunch is offered.

Please contact Jerrod Allen at 903-399-8862 with questions. Please come if available.

Life Together at FUMC Longview
Thank you to all who contributed to the UMW project to put together Hygiene kits for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). With your help, we were able to make 150 kits at our August meeting! These kits help people throughout the world who need help with basic hygiene after disasters occur. We could not have done this without your help.
If you or someone you know is sick or hospitalized and is unable to attend worship with us, please let us know!
