Can you believe that it is almost October? The air is finally cooling, pumpkin spice is available in everything, and life is starting to find its rhythm again. Here at the church, things are no different. We have resumed meeting in-person for worship at 8:30 AM and 10:45 AM (which is also live-streamed), with Sunday School in between, and we have kicked off our Wednesday Night Live programming with awesome stuff for kids, youth, and adults. It is not too late to get plugged into one of our Wednesday Night Live studies! We would love to have you either in-person or via live-stream on Facebook or the website.

Another important event to put on your calendar is our Flu Shot Clinic, which will be held Wednesday, October 7, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the North Foyer. We are partnering with Louis Morgan #4, so bring your insurance information with you (or $40 if you’re self-pay) and get your flu shot. It’s incredibly important to do so this year!

However you choose to be involved this fall - whether in a Sunday School class, a small group, a Bible study, or worship - we are thrilled that you are a part of our church family. And if you’re not plugged in yet, consider what that might look like for you! We are stronger and better together. One church, for all of Longview - a beacon of hope for all!

In Christ,
Pastor Adrienne
Where are you connected?
**Notice: A Called Charge Conference will be held on October 11th at 7 PM in the Faith Center to address the sale of the Senior Pastor’s parsonage.**
Please note that ALL gatherings at FUMC - including worship and Sunday school - require social distancing and masking. We thank you for doing your part to keep our church family safe!
It's time again for Communion!
Communion will be available at all our in-person worship services this Sunday, October 4th. But for those of you who are worshipping with us from home at 10:45 AM, we invite you to come by the covered drive outside the church office to pick up sealed communion elements that have been blessed. Then during online worship on Sunday, we will enjoy communion together!

Communion packs can be picked up this week (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
Wednesday Night Live kicked off this past week. We enjoyed a Chick-fil-A dinner, a small group lesson on being a good friend, and fellowship time in the gym. We are looking forward to being together again this Wednesday night! Please drop off and pick up your children at the North Foyer Doors. See y'all Wednesday!
We are collecting candy for Fall Fest, which is themed "Candy Caravan" this year! We are asking for help with collecting the following candy items to help us tell stories from the Bible as part of our drive-thru candy caravan. The number next to each type of candy is how many we have had donated so far.

GriefShare is relaunching!
GriefShare will start back Sunday, October 4, and will meet from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. If you are interested, please RSVP to Pastor Adrienne at and she will be sure we will have a room that will allow us to properly social distance.

GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.
Remember: offerings that you'd like to go toward the Society of St. Stephen can be placed in the offering plate on Sundays in each worship service. Just designate in the memo line of your check "Society of St. Stephen," or you can drop your donation off at the church office.
Longview Community Ministries is in need of dried pinto beans. You may drop off donations at the church office, or bring to church on Sunday. There will be boxes in the Cook Foyer and Narthex to collect them.
Thousands of people have been affected by Hurricane Laura and its aftermath. Please consider helping those in need by donating to UMCOR. UMCOR is already on the ground helping with clean up and resources for those who need them. Your donation can make a huge impact in the lives of those who need it most right now. You can send your gift to FUMC with "UMCOR" in the memo line.
Life Together at FUMC Longview
FUMC Longview is launching our very own app!
We are excited to announce the FUMC app is now available for you to download. Follow the steps below to download the app, and stay tuned for an instructional video on how you can do things like check-in on Wednesday nights or on Sundays, fill out forms, and so much more!

To download the app:
  • Go to either the Android or Apple app store and search for "Church by MinistryOne." Once you have found the correct app (the icon should be purple with a white cross), you will hit "download" or "get."
  • Once the app has downloaded, launch the app.
  • Now you will want to search for "Longview First United Methodist Church." Our church logo and address will then populate. Tap on "More," and then "Select this church."
  • At this point, you will get a pop up asking if you would like to allow the app to send you notifications. This is personal preference, but at this time we will not be sending notifications to your phone.
  • Once FUMC is your selected church, you will log in. To do this, tap "Profile," and then type in your email and cell phone number. You will then be prompted to validate your account via text or email. You will select how you want your code sent, and then once the code is received, you will enter the code into the app.
  • Once you are logged in, you will be taken to your profile! This is where you can make changes to your profile (such as phone number changes, address changes, and even add a payment method for giving!).

And that's all for now! Stay tuned on our Facebook page and in next week's edition of The Voice for an in depth video on all that the app can offer. Contact the church office with questions.
