It's that time of year - basketball March Madness (into April), Major League Baseball, major golf tournaments all occurring as we face the end of our DKG year and begin planning for the next one. Of terrific interest was the recent reading that a baseball team was deeply committed to "The Five Dysfunctions of a Team" written by Patrick Lencioni. This is the same book that DKG used several years ago with their International Leadership Team and that Dr. Mary Jane Kaufman shared with me and I, in turn, shared as Leadership Development Chair.
So what are those five dysfunctions?
- Absence of trust - team members being unable to show their weaknesses or to be vulnerable and open with one another
- Fear of conflict - conflict is productive, even though it may be uncomfortable
- Lack of commitment - all opinions are important but it is important to work, really work, together once a decision is made.
- Avoidance of accountability - each team member is responsible for holding one another accountable.
- Inattention to results - a team becomes results-oriented when all team members place the team's results first
As you move forward with your DKG game plans: trust one another, engage in unfiltered conflict around ideas, commit to decisions and plans of action, hold one another accountable, and focus on achievement of results.
Go Team DKG!

MONEY MATTER$
By Diana Haskell, State Treasurer
|
Changes are challenging!
The timing of Delta Kappa Gamma dues collection impacts all members of the Society. Every chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society will follow the timeline below. Chapter dues that you pay to your chapter treasurer prior to June 30, 2019 will fulfill your financial responsibility for the 2019-2020 membership year.
Dues Collection Timeline
- June 30 - Member dues collection deadline (chapter). Begin collecting in April, May and June for 2019-2020 membership year.
- July 1 - Chapters begin sending dues to International and State Organization (separate checks to each entity for respective portion)
- August 1 - Automated notices are emailed to members whose dues have not been paid. Email reminders will also be sent to all treasurers to remind them to reach out to members who have not paid dues.
- September 1 - Second automated notices are emailed to members whose dues have not been paid. Email reminders will also be sent to all treasurers to remind them that members who have not paid dues will be dropped on October 1 if dues are not received.
- October 1 - Members who have not paid dues will be dropped.
Chapters are encouraged to use judgement in regard to new members and reinstatements who are added late in the spring (April - June). It would be most efficient for chapters to add them for the 2019-2020 dues collection year.

$74 Million Proposal for Abused and Neglected Ohio Children
This information was brought to my attention in my local newspaper, so I am very excited to bring it to our membership. The proposal for the next fiscal year will significantly increase services to abused and neglected children in our state. Watch and read about it as it moves forward through the Ohio legislature.
Click here to read the entire article: PROPOSAL
Please keep up with our DKG state initiative and continue sending me the results of your chapter's efforts on behalf of children in foster care.
Thank you,
Debby Canter

ALPHA DELTA STATE
OHIO EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION (ADSOEF)
Dr. Norma Kirby, Chair

Educational Project Fund Appeals to Members
Funding Ohio members' educational projects
is the purpose and focus of the
ADSOEF Educational Project Fund.
This fund was created to follow the lead of many Ohio chapters whose members have established similar funds to meet the needs of local educators. To fund the state-wide ADSOEF Project Fund, our Directors launched the Inspire Direct Appeal campaign last December. We have had unexpected response from individual members, chapters, and a coordinating council. However, the money needs a boost.
The
Inspire
Direct Appeal is still alive - but ends June 30th.
Are you an individual member who could contribute $10 or $20 or $other sometime in the next three months? Do you have family or friends who could help? Will your chapter hold a fun fundraiser to help increase the Educational Project Fund? If members can help with the money boost, Foundation Directors can grow the money and prepare for what promises to be a popular and welcomed program service.
If you no longer have your
Inspire
Direct Appeal letter and contribution form that you received early last December, they are available on the Foundation website at adsoef.weebly.com.
Hear about ADSOEF Educational Project Funds that have already been awarded at our Annual Meeting at Convention 2019 on April 5th, 8:00 p.m.
